I creep downstairs early next morning for breakfast. After hearing Rory and Mom's conversation last night, I decided I should play it cool and pretend nothing happened yesterday. If I bug Rory about her anniversary, she won't tell me anything. Everyone will be asking her about it, but if I'm the only one who doesn't seem to care, she might tell me on her own.
"Morning." Rory greets me. That's weird, she should be more sad than she is. She's so..chipper.
I pretend I didn't hear her and walk towards the fridge. I take out a box of cereal and a carton of milk, not even glancing at the carton. When I turn around, Rory is staring at me.
"What?"
She shakes her head. "I just said good morning." she tells me.
"Oh." I sigh, acting sorry I didn't hear her; even though I did. "Sorry, didn't hear you. Good morning."
"Uh huh." she says suspiciously. "You're not at all wondering about what I did last night?"
I shrug nonchalantly before setting down the cereal and milk. I turn to the cupboard and grab a bowl, then a spoon.
"You're lying." she states.
I sigh, sitting in my chair. I pour the cereal and Rory adds marshmallows, then I add milk. "I'm not lying."
"Callie." she says with annoyance.
"Rory!" I groan. "Not everyone is gonna ask about your big anniversary! Maybe the other nosy people in Stars Hollow but not me! I have more important things to worry about." I stuff a mouthful of cereal in my mouth.
"Wow." Rory gasps.
"Sorry." I apologize. "Guess I'm just a little testy today."
"It's fine." she says. "How was your anniversary with Asher?"
"It was good."
"Yeah?"
"Uh huh."
She stares at me. "Nothing else?"
"It was great okay? We had a great anniversary and right now I don't want to relive it."
"Why not? If it was so great."
I sigh, pushing myself from the table. "I need to shower."
"You're avoiding the question."
"So are you!" I walk away from the table, but she keeps talking.
"Where are you going?!"
"Out!!"
I stomp upstairs, eager to be away from her. That didn't turn out how I wanted it to at all.

After I got dressed and ready, I went downstairs to leave. Just as I was about halfway out the door, Mom called. She told me Rory wanted her to spend the day with her.
Apparently, she wanted me to come with them as well. I groaned and begged her to tell Rory no. But it wasn't an option, I had to go with them. Rory wanted to do things that we said we were going to but never did.
"But I...can't you two go? Why do I have to come?" I say now.
"Stop whining." Mom tells me. "How about this," she starts.
I stand straighter, ready to hear her new deal.
"You accompany me and Rory on whatever adventure she has in store for us. Then at noon, you can go off on your own. We'll meet up at Luke's for dinner."
