I thought this through and decided to write a one-shot for the Staron shippers. If you don't like this ship sorry, not sorry. I think Steve and Sharon are actually cute together, we're all entitled to our opinions, and I'm writing this under the assumption no one is forcing you to read this. If you do like this ship I hope you'll like this one-shot.

You, Sam, and Bucky peaked from a corner of the hallway in hopes that you guys would be able to get a glimpse of Steve initiating a relationship with the one and only Sharon Carter.  "Think this'll be the day, gentlemen?" You ask Sam and Bucky in anticipation. "Better be, I'm not about to lose this bet to Stark and Barton," Sam replies. "Same here," Bucky chides. "All three of us have a lot riding on this," you say back. "Okay, both of you shut up, Cap's about to make his move," Sam gets your attention

The three of you creep ever so closer from the corner of the hallway as Steve started talking with Sharon; you were practically standing on your toes, "Uh the suspense is killing me," you groan. "Tell me about it," Bucky agrees, "That punk don't hurry up I'll look as old as I am." "I said shush," Sam nudges your side which made you fall on him and him to fall on Bucky. The sudden noise made Steve turn towards your direction, "What are you idiots doing?" He frowns as Sharon walks away with a giggle. "Uh, playing hide and seek," you reply nervously. "And which one of you was suppose to be seeking?" Steve further questions. "Uh-" "We forgot," Sam cuts in. Steve looks at all three of you funny as you, Sam, and Bucky slowly back away and head for the kitchen.

"We forgot who was seeking? Really?" Bucky frowns at Sam once you all reach the kitchen. "Hey with your faulty memory, it makes sense," Sam smirks causing Bucky to scowl. "Well now what do we do?" You interrupt the boys' bickering, "Steve was so close this time I just know it."

"I would have thought things would have progressed after they kissed that one time," Sam ponders. "Maybe it's because Steve isn't facing certain death anymore," you suggest. "How do you mean?" Bucky asks. "Think about it," you explain, "Steve kissing Sharon before we were suppose to leave to face those assassins seemed a bit rushed and random but I don't think it was from Steve's point of view. There was a good chance he and all of us weren't going to make it out of this one alive; he probably thought he wasn't going to have a chance to be with Sharon...so he kissed her because he probably wanted to do at least one thing with her before possibly dying."

"So the kiss was basically just a spur of the moment, no regrets thing," Sam sums up. "Exactly," you agree, "And now that the danger has passed he probably doesn't feel there's any rush to make his next move." "Maybe we should create another life or death situation," Bucky suggests, "Cause at this point it'll be another 70 years before Steve makes his next move." "How are we gonna do that? Put a gun to his head?" Sam sarcastically asks. "Course not," Bucky retorts, "It was your fault by the way. You hadn't nudged  (y/n) like that Steve and Sharon would have been an item right now. " "Oh so it's my fault now?" Sam scowls, "They would have already been a thing of you didn't give him such a hard time in the car." "You joined on that too," Bucky shoots back. "Guy please," you chide, "you can bicker about whose fault this is like an old married couple later. Right now we need to come up with ways to speed up the dating process here."

It took some time to come up with ideas. Luckily since the three of you were in the kitchen, you all had direct access to some brain food. "Anyone come up with anything that doesn't involve a hostage related situation?" You ask eating a sandwich you made recently. "I think I might have something," Sam speaks up. You and Bucky lean forward in anticipation, "What if Bucky and I we invite Steve to a nice fancy restaurant somewhere and (y/n) invites Sharon," he continues, "We give them the directions to get there and they'll be the only ones to show up." "And if they're the only ones there..." You began, "it'll be like their first official date," Bucky finishes with a smile. "I gotta hand to you, Sam, that's actually not a bad idea," you compliment which made Sam grin widely.

Half an hour later the three of you put the plan into motion. While Sam and Bucky went to persuade Steve you has succeeded in convincing Sharon. Later, while the two unsuspecting couple-to-be were making their to the restaurant, you, Sam, and Bucky were outside the place in a car; sure you guys had no intention of actually meeting up with Steve and Sharon but nevertheless, the three of you were not about to leave things to chance. "Ah! Can barely see a damn thing from here," Sam groans. "Here use these," you hand Sam a pair of binoculars. "Why do you have those on hold?" Bucky questions. "Uh no reason," you reply with a fake smile, "It's not for spying on my fellow teammates back at the compound if that is what you're implying." Sam and Bucky both decide to brush that statement off in favor of spying on Steve and Sharon's fixed dinner date.

"So how's it going in there?" Bucky asks in excitement. "Well it looks like it's going pretty well, surprisingly," Sam informs, "they're talking, she's laughing probably at one of Cap's jokes. Hey, check this out, they're holding hands. "What? Gimme those," you snatch the binoculars from Sam. "Hey, I want to see too," Bucky protests snatching the binoculars from you. You snatch them back, Sam takes them from you, Bucky takes them from Sam; soon all three of you were fighting for the binoculars.

As you continued fighting there was an unexpected knock on the car window which startled all three of you. You look outside to see Steve and Sharon standing by the car door, stern looks on their faces. Sam hesitantly rolls down the window. "Hey, Cap, Sharon, what's up?" he says with a nervous smile. "Were the three of you actually planning on showing up or were you gonna stay in the car and spy on us the whole night?" Steve crosses his arms. "What? Spy? Us?" You say nervously. "Oh please," Sharon adds in, "Steve and I could see you guys right where we were sitting. I have to say, considering you have at least one spy in the group," she gestures to Bucky, "I'm a little disappointed." The three of you hang your heads feeling somewhat embarrassed that you were caught so easily. "Don't worry we won't say anything to the rest of the team," Steve assures, putting an arm around Sharon, "We kind of figured what you guys were doing...and we love you for it."

Steve and Sharon walk back to their car, holding hands. "What are the chances they may fondue tonight?" You ask once the couple was out of ear shot. "Steve's a gentleman," Bucky tells you, "he'll probably wait until the tenth date...or the fiftieth...or their hundredth." "I don't care how long it'll be till then," Sam quips, "I just want to get my money from Tony and Clint now that I have two witnesses to confirm I won this bet."

The three of you head back to the compound. When you passed the lounge are, walking back to your room, you saw Steve and Sharon watching a movie, and you were pretty sure you saw them kissing.

You know, after seeing that scene from Civil War for the hundredth time, I noticed it did actually make some sense. Yes it did seemed rushed but Steve was kind of in a hurry, he probably thought he wasn't going to make it out of this fight alive, and he didn't want to have any regrets. Looking at Sharon he probably thought Oh what the hell? I have to let her know exactly how I feel in case I don't come back alive. They say at the end of your life you regret the things you didn't do more than the things you did, and not initiating some sort of romantic and meaningful relationship with a woman he cared about (long before he found she was related to Peggy might I add) was something Steve probably didn't want to regret when possibly facing his death.
