This idea I got after watching an episode from Steven Universe; it's sorta like Nat is Garnet and the reader is Pearl (I'll provide the clip above).
For some of the backstory, the reader and Nat, at one point, were part of the Black Widow program and the reader always felt second-rate compared to Nat even when they got out of all that. I'll explain more in the one-shot.

A bit of angst (again, not really my forte).

Also this one-shot kinda sorta takes place during Infinity War
I saw it so as a result I felt I needed to add an extended ending...if you already saw the film then this might make you feel dead inside afterward. If you hadn't seen it then slight spoiler alert ahead.

"Everyone ready?" Steve asks the team, the ones who were about to take the battle against Thanos' army on the ground. You hesitantly turn your gaze to Natasha, who seemed intent on not making eye contact with you whatsoever, mostly because of some unresolved issues post the Civil War incident. "As ready as we'll ever be, I guess," you nod.

"Good," Steve merely says, noticing the tension between you and the assassin, "....then suit up."

"Hey, Nat....I-," Nat merely leaves before you could finish what you were trying to say. You knew you screwed up big time with her, but it wasn't going to stop you from saving the world and hopefully make things right with her again.

------flashback--------

"How could you?" Natasha inquires in shock, "Tell me it isn't true. Look me in the eye and tell me none of it was true." You wince a little at the anger in her tone. Steve and Sam both figured out what you've been planning, so you had to finally confess, "I'm sorry," your eyes start to tear up, "Secretary Ross made me, he was gonna send me to the Raft for aiding and abetting unless I find you and Cap and everyone else and brought you guys in. I didn't want to, I had no choice."

"You always had a choice!" Natasha shouts, anger boiling up at you, "We trusted you, (y/n), I trusted you. I thought after our time in the KGB, after I helped get you out of there you would've changed, but now I see you're not any different now then you were all those years ago."

"Nat," Sam starts to speak up but the assassin stops him, "Don't you even think about trying to defend her, Wilson! She betrayed us." You turn your gaze away in shame, not being to look at either one in the eye.

You and Natasha had known each other for as long as you could remember. The two of you were part of the Black Widow program during your KGB days. You were a fairly good fighter yourself, but Natasha was special; her skill set was in a different class all its own. You were always constantly pitted against her for just about everything from sparring sessions to dangerous, undercover missions. No matter how hard you worked, no matter how much your best was, Natasha always came up on top, and the KGB agents were always there to rub that in your face. It was times like that you would become envious of Nat, but at the same time you were also in awe of her, it always felt very confusing, especially since she was the reason you got outta that life in the first place. Natasha was the one who got out away from those horrible people, helped you find a place in S.H.I.E.L.D, and among the Avengers. You were on her side during the Civil War incident, but when she turned to help Steve and Bucky escape, you knew she would have to leave, go off the grid, so you returned the favor and helped her escape.
Your history with the Black Widow was the reason why you were sent to track her and team Cap when they escaped the Raft, which led to the predicament you were in now.

"I'm sorry," your say, tears starting fall out, "I should have told you from the beginning." "How long before the authorities find us?" Steve asks in somewhat low tone, knowing this probably wasn't easy for you, "Eleven minutes from now," you answer, "You can still get away, I can help-" "We don't need your help," Nat warns. She and the two men leave while you do what you pull yourself together long enough to stall the authorities.
