I see I have a little over 500 viewers reading my one-shot book. May not seem much but honestly I didn't expect that many people to read my work so much appreciated. To celebrate I'll start a new mini-series based on another episode from The Vicar of Dibely. To understand the inspiration you can watch the show, specifically the episode entitled Radio Dibely, on Netflix.
It was that time of the week at the Avengers facility once more; the biweekly meetings with Nick Fury that involved going over old missions, briefing new missions, and any other business relevant to the team.
So you and the available team members were sitting in the conference room doing just that...well sort of. You were distracted trying to perfect a specific technique in the gym when you realized the meeting had started ten minutes ago so you ran there as fast as you could. When you got there you were out of breath and Thor it sounded like was regaling one of his famous battle stories from Asgard. "...and that was how we drove the marauders back over the cliff. They never knew what hit them." "Sorry I'm late," you walk into the room and take your seat, "did I miss anything?" "Not much," was Clint's response which received a scowl from Thor. "Anyway," Fury interrupts, "we were just moving on to point three of our meeting, Stark, I assume you have that report ready concerning that alien tech that was recovered from the Arctic." "Had it sent to your hard drive exactly forty-five seconds ago," was Tony's reply. "You didn't pull another all nighter trying to finish it again did you?" you ask Tony. "More like an all morninger if that's a word. I started it from 1 am this morning and worked none-stop since than." At that statement you and Steve simultaneously smack your foreheads.
"Next point of business," Fury continues, "On behalf of S.H.I.E.L.D. we need at least two of you for a three day mission to investigate strange activity in the Pacific, specifically Hawaii. May be just a false alarm but we can't be too careful. Who will volunteer?" Everyone in the room raises their hands. "This is not some tropical vacation," Fury scowls, "And you should be made aware I will be sending my best agents to keep an eye on you and report back to me to make sure you're actually working and not lying around on the beach all day." Everyone lowers their hands. "Fine," Fury sighs, "We'll have to settle this the usual way." He takes out a hat, which contains strips of paper inside and pulls two out. "The lucky volunteers will be Barnes and Wilson." Sam and Bucky groan which makes you and Clint giggle and Steve to scowl at you two.
"Alright," Fury continues once more, "That just about covers it. Any other business?" "Actually I have something," you chide in. "You have the floor, (Y/L/N)," Fury tells you. "Well," you begin, "This year is officially marks five years since this team came together as the Avengers." Some of the team members perk up at that statement. "Has it been five years already?' Tony asks. "Feels like it was only yesterday," Steve says with fond nostalgia, "One minute I come out of the ice, the next I'm forced to work with these idiots *cough* *cough* Tony." That received a scowl towards Steve from Tony. "I remembered that day as a glorious battle for Earth...or would have been one if it weren't for my brother Loki and his plot to overthrow the Earth of course," Thor chimes in. "If I remember correctly, that crazy man was the reason we all came together in the first place," Clint points. "Oh well in that case everything worked out just fine in the end after all," was Thor's reply, "If it didn't we would not be together and young (y/n) here would not be here today to announce that it has been five years." "Anyways," you continue, "to celebrate, I contacted the local radio station in Manhattan and he told me in the next two weeks, the Avengers can go live on the radio for the whole week." The team claps at your accomplishment. "Thank you, Thank you," you take a bow.
"Hold on a minute," Fury interrupts, "What exactly are you all suppose to do on the radio?" "Well," you reply, "Anything with legal bounds. I thought we could use the next two biweekly meetings to come together and brainstorm some ideas for radio segments." "It would be kind of nice to go live on the radio," Steve replies, "Get people away from the TV and internet and bring family together like they did in old days." "You mean back in your day when the world was in black and white and you could leave your front door unlocked?" Natasha asks with a grin on her face. "I told you I'm not dead, quite talking like I'm some senile old man," Steve sighs. "I was on the radio once," Sam quips, "I called in to say the phrase that pays." "Did you win any money?" you asked, "I would have...but all I missed was one goddamn word and got squat," Sam sighs, "didn't think radio stations could be so picky." "Must be why they promise so much money if you win," you speculate. "Alright it's settled," Fury declares. "We'll talk ideas for the next meeting," you say, "But before we leave, I don't know why but I feel I should point out to some of you, not saying who, but make sure the ideas are in good taste for the radio." you by the way were looking at Tony when you said that which made him confused. "What?" he asks all innocent-like.
