22 | Too late?

Ed's POV

I started walking to Penny's house. I wanted to see how's she's doing because I haven't heard from her in awhile and I started worrying. She's still mad and pissed with me. I need to explain to her why I was gone. I have a good excuse. She'll understand when I tell her the full story right? I screwed this up! Why didn't I just wait till she was back to tell her that I had to go! Ugh I'm so stupid. I should of told her the full story at the start but I didn't. I was blind by fear.... She was too but she opened up to me, faster than I thought too. I guess she was bottling it up for so long that she needed to get it off chest. I'm glad she did too.

I got to her house and saw her parents car was gone. I sighed in relief. I knew what her step dad was like and I didn't want to get on his bad side. I made my way to Penny's door and knocked. There was no answer. I raised my hand and knocked again. No response. She must be out with her parents. I was about to go but I didn't I waited another minute just increase. I took a step down from the step when I heard a small scream and crying coming in from the house. I froze and turned around. I tried the door handle and luckily the door was opened. She must be home.

The moment I walked through the door I was hit with a strong smell of alcohol lingering in the air. I looked around me to see beer cans and empty wine bottles on the floor.

'God she has to live with these people.'

I heard sobbing from upstairs so I slowly made my way up as I listened to an poor girl suffering of pain. I pain that I haven't helped yet. A louder scream was let out before it went silence. No word. No crying. I ran up the rest of the stairs and towards the room where I heard the crying coming from. I ran as fast as I could remembering the night I found her about to end her life. She can do anytime she wants.

I busted through her door and froze at the sight that was in front of me. My eyes widen as I felt my eyes sweat. My heart stopped... As Penny lay there on the ground peacefully.. blood spilling out of her wrist. Blood surrounded her as a blade lay beside her covered in blood.
After I recovered I ran cover to her pulling off my jacket and used it to stop the blood coming out.

"No no no! Penny! Wake up!" I shook her shoulders. "You can't leave me." I grabbed Penny's phone from the ground and typed in 999.

"Hello ho-"

"HELLO! I NEED AN AMBULANCE! ATTEMPTED SUICIDE PLEASE!" I cut her off before she could speak.

"Please Sir calm please tell me where you are." The woman on the other end spoke.

I gave her all the details as I stayed at Penny's side trying to stop the blood. I need to help her but what can I do?

"This is my fault isn't it? When I left you had to go back here and you felt alone." I used my spare hand to hold hers. "Please don't leave me." I tried holding back tears. I needed to stay strong. For Penny.

After about 10 minutes I heard a siren roaring down the road. 'Thank God. about time.'
I stayed with Penny as I heard the door slam open and people running upstairs.

"IN HERE!" I shouted to let them know where we are.

They came rushing in with a stretcher and med kits. They looked at me with pity in their eyes. They pushed me out of the way to get to Penny. They gently lifted her up and set her on the stretcher as they rushed out with her to the ambulance. I ran after them. I needed to know if she was going to be ok.

"The cut is deep." A heard a nurse say.

"We need to get her to the hospital quickly, we can't be too late." Another one said. 
They put her in the ambulance and was about to shut the door when I shouted.

"HEY! Can I come!?" They looked at me with a concerned look. They better let me.

"Usually it's only family that can come pet.. Are you family?"

"No but her family isn't here, I'm the only person! Please let me come!" I begged. She looked around and then nodded her head what I immediately jumped in.

They were all calm while taking care of Penny as I sat there panicking while holding her hand. I needed Penny, she can't leave me like this. I will help her over come this! She needed someone to help her and I just left her to be taken back by her step dad! This is all my fault!!!

We finally got to the hospital and everyone got out and rushed in. I tried following but the minute they went through these giant doors I was pushed back from Penny.

"Sorry you can't go with her. Your just going to have to wait." I looked to see the guy and see he was very tall with dark skin and brown hair that matched his eyes can I just point out.

"But I need to be with her." I looked behind him seeing Penny getting pushed farther and farther away from me. He shook his head then pointed over to the waiting room. I sighed in defeat and walked towards it.

Her family doesn't even know! I'm the only one. Who could I tell them? I felt something in my pocket as I realized I still had Penny's phone when ringing 999. I unlocked it as I knew her pass cord and went on her contact list and found her mum. I took a breath as I clicked on it.

"Hello?" A sweet voice spoke.

"Hello, this is Penny's friend I just wanted to tell you she's in hospital righ-" I was cut off.

"WHAT!? MY BABY! IM COMING!" The phone hung up before I could explain anything. Is there anyone I should tell. I went on her recent and saw that Craig was on. I didn't really want to ring him so I texted him.

E- Hello, This is Ed Penny's friend. I wanted to tell you she's in hospital. I wouldn't say why as I don't know if you know things, but if your close to her you might want to come see her.

C- Wtf!? Penny is this a prank! Please say it is!

E- Sorry dude but it's not :(

C-Pls don't say she did.... it?

Hey! ok i wrote this straight after the other one!? wtf! This isnt me!
Yea I kinda realised that the book was getting boring a bit after she ran away. I guess I was trying to make her more happy but it just got boring. Sorry about that
