Why do you all believe
That I have somehow wronged you?
Can't any of you see
That I am trying so hard not to hurt you?
Based on my broken heart inside
There will be a day
When nobody is on my side
Though it hurts me to say
That someone who loves me now
Will hate my guts eventually
Rage will grow somehow
And I will be left singing:

My heart would not be broken
My soul would not be worn
If somebody didn't break it
Leaving me beaten and torn
But my broken heart can't fly
My soul can't feel alive
If I give it reason why
To waste my time running and hiding
Why do you all believe

Can't any of you see
That I am trying so hard not to hurt you?
Everything I say and do
Will somehow hurt somebody
There is no way I can't hurt you
There will always be some way
For a good deed to hurt the innocent
Or an honest mistake to cause pain
No matter how carefully my time is spent
It will always be the same
Why do you all believe
That I have somehow wronged you?
Can't any of you see
