Eggshells (Poem)

I am walking on eggshells

With every step I take

I find it hard to tell

Where to step for them to not break

No matter how hard I try

No matter how carefully I move

They just break sometimes

And the shards are not smooth

They are sharp with lies

Stabbing into my already broken heart

Cutting deep into my thighs

They are tearing me apart.

I want to teach you to walk a little softer

To not hurt yourself

These shells will grow stronger

If you are not by yourself

These shells don't have to be so thin

If we walk on them together

If you release the paranoia and fear within

Moving forward will be so much easier

Please, come walk with me

I can teach you how to walk a little slower

So you have some room to breathe

Because together, our shells are thicker.
