"Everything is changing, but why am I the only one that's still here?"
I took my time in fully understanding what was happening. I don't think that even he knew or could fully grasp the reality of the situation. We were just here now, wondering what had changed in the time of our absence in one another's lives.
"You've grown up." He leans against his bike, his green hair casts a shadow over his eyes. I could feel my heart clench the more I stare into those eyes.
They look so empty.
Like a shell.
I bite down on my lip to keep myself from asking all those things I want, he tilts his head looking at me from side to side. "I thought you hated it." He refers to my outfit as a teacher.
My heart sways and the wind blows. "I still do."
He grins from ear to ear, strands of my hair get caught in my eyelashes. "Then why?" My eyes water. "Didn't we promise each other to make our dreams real?"
I paused, the more he spoke the more I realized how little had I changed, how little had I grown and how much he had.
"Yes, but I thought you had forgotten all about that. I mean our lives are so different...now. None of it matters anymore, or so I thought." The words sounded braver than I felt.
He shook his head, "Don't you listen to my songs?" He asks. "The messages...my past has defined me..." His hands bawl into fists. "I fucking hate it so much."
"Yoongi..." I hold back, a hand over my chest. I can't say it, no matter how much I want to I have to hold myself back because it isn't in my place. It isn't right for me to bring up the past that took such a toll on our lives.
Yoongi stares at the ground. "Fuck." He places a hand over his chest gripping his leather jacket while he slowly attempts to control whatever is bundled up inside. Suddenly he has that serious look on his face.
He straightens up and hops onto his bike. "Let's go." He asks, no dares.
I slowly raise my eyes to look at his, something about the way he looks at me makes me feel like right now I'd regret the rest of my life if I keep myself from this, because this was my first love...the first love that could never be.
"Okay." I whispered, and when I hop onto the back of his bike and wrap my arms around the back of his waist my heart is beating so fast. I could see that smirk on his face and I know he can feel my heart pounding.
"Don't let go." He murmurs.
But I wouldn't let go not even if he asked, because not only were my arms wrapped around him, but my heart was too.
