(This chapter alone will be in 3rd person view)
"What can I say I love her, but she's my best friend's girl."
Simon pondered what he was doing here. For some reason the same old scene just wasn't it for him anymore. He was growing tired, tired of the alcohol, clubs, same old girls... he knew what they wanted and love wasn't it. Those pretty faces couldn't hide there true intentions from him, he knew better than to foolishly fall for a pretty face.
He was watching the sky trying to remember why it was he started rapping in the first place, he had forgotten what it was really about. This lifestyle had changed him completely. Now his whole life had become about who had more and who wanted more.
But Simon wanted the one thing his image and lifestyle couldn't give him...love. But his pride would never allow him to admit it. Which was why he'd rather feign ignorance then give face. He was drinking his last beer outside the alley of the club his crew hanged out at. It was supposed to be like any other night.
Except today was different.
Today she was here, he walked over to her, setting his beer down before he headed her way. Some part of this seemed like routine to him but it was a routine he didn't mind for some reason. When he finally closed the distance he noticed her eyes were watery, but she wiped the tears as soon as she saw him.
"Oh, Simon." She smiled, feigning she was okay.
"What are you doing out here?" Simon asked playing along.
"Oh, just taking some air." She looked away purposely avoiding his gaze.
Simon knew something was wrong, he knew it from the way she trembled, to the way her gaze purposely avoided his, and by the way she bite her lip as if to hold back what she was truly feeling.
But this was Simon Dominic we were talking about here, nothing got past him, he saw through everything. Simon reached for her, "Ya, Haru-ah." Her name leaving his lips casts a shiver down her spine as he begins to wrap his arms around her waist, pressing his forehead against hers but she intentionally looks the other way, except that he follows her gaze with his.
"Whats wrong?" He murmurs against her skin.
She nods, her lips pressed in a thin line, her gaze avoiding his. "Tell me."
She nods again.
He touched her hair, tilting her head just slightly to get at her neck, and his words vibrated through her as he murmured against her skin, "Haru, I ain't gonna ask you twice." His teeth grazed her.
She pushed him away with the palm of her hands. "Stop it."
Simon sighed, allowing the space between them. "Why do you always do that?" She snapped running her hands through her hair.
"What?" He shrugged.
"Why can't you be more like Jay?"
Simon laughed. "And cheat on you every weekend?"
Whatever she was about to say stopped from leaving her lips. Instead her eyes watered and she looked away again. Simon mentally kicked himself but nothing he could say could fix it now. "Mian..."
She doesn't say much after a while.
"Leave." She urged.
"Haru..."
"Leave!"
Simon shakes his head, and heads past her his shoulder brushing hers. He walks back over to the club but he's surprised when she follows him back inside, Simon immediately looks over to where Jay is but he's currently with another chick.
And that's when he blocks her vision, wrapping his arms around her and pressing her face into his chest. She grows stiff at first, and all the other girls around the club are looking over at the scene unfold.
"Let go." She hissed, but Simon didn't listen and instead guided her out the club and out the front where he called her a taxi.
She stood besides him defeated. Her hand felt odd in his, he noticed how small, fragile, and warm it was. He had this sudden urge to protect her from everything...even himself.
"I guess I really should accept it already." Her voice cracks at the end. "I'm just like any other girl." Simon doesn't say anything, he can't.
Once the taxi finally pulls up he walks her over to the car, pushing her inside. The window had already been rolled down so he could finally say what's been on his mind. "Haru...I know I told you this once before but I really mean it. You deserve better than us..."
Her eyes widen.
But before she can say anything he moves away and hands the taxi driver some cash and directions. Haru's still watching him even as he moves aside and watches the taxi driver pull away.
That would be the last time they'd see each other for sure,
or so he thought.
