Kaden's dream...
Daniel just started to wake up and from the look of it his vision was blurry, so he couldn't make out any of the figures around him, but he recognized our voices.
"Daniel. You're ok!" Grayson states
"Of...course I'm...ok, why...wouldn't I be?"
"Because you've been in a coma for six months." Chandler implies.
"What?"
"You've..been...in...a...coma...for...six..months."Grayson declares.
"Geez, you didn't have to talk that slow."
"Well, you didn't really hear me the first time."
"Because I've been asleep for six months. It's going to take me awhile to fully recover."
"True, are you sure that you're all right?"
"I'm sure. The stitches have been removed and the skin in that area has grown back."
"Thank God. I thought we were going to lose you."
"Kaden, Alice are you here?"
"Yes, we're here. And we're so glad that you're all right."
"Dad, can I talk to you alone?" Kaden wonders.
"Sure."
Everyone but Kaden left.
"So, what did you want to talk about Kaden?"
"Alice."
"Why?"
"Because she was really depressed that you were going to die and even more depressed when she found out that you were in a coma."
"Did she..."
"No. Because I kept my promise to you. I kept her safe."
"Thank you. I got up from my bed, knelt down and Kaden instantly hugged me. I hugged back and it lasted for six minutes.
"I missed you dad."
"I missed you too dad. And I'm glad that you're all right."
"And I'm glad that all of you are all right."
"When you were out what did you dream about?"
"I dreamt about all of us having a welcome back party and the both of us going to baseball games, hockey games...well, you get the idea."
"Did we catch any foul balls?"
"Yeah, quite a few. We kept one and gave the others away to other kids."
"So that's all you dreamt about?"
"Pretty much."
"Dad?"
"Yes."
"You're not going to, you know...change because of what happened...are you?"
I didn't answer Kaden's question, not because I didn't want to, but because I didn't want him to know the truth.
"You are...aren't you."
"It's complicated."
"I don't want you to change. You're perfect the way you are."
"You mean the way I used to be."
"You really shouldn't change. I love you the way you are."
"I was weak before and the new me will be much stronger."
"I don't think that I like the new you. And you're going to regret it sooner or later."
"No. I won't."
"Then I'll go back to hating you and back to the fact that you're dead to me."
"You wouldn't dare!"
"Try me. You and I both know that you wouldn't hurt me."
"Maybe before, but now...I don't care about you."
I was about to hit my dad but he blocked it, then spun me around, and snapped my neck.

12:45 a.m...
I screamed as I woke up and sat up. Unfortunately I woke up my sister as well.
"Kaden, what's wrong?"
"I just had a nightmare, that's all."
"Want to talk about it?"
"You...you, wouldn't believe me if I told you."
"Kaden, I can tell that your nightmare is bothering you. So please tell me."
"I...I don't think I can."
"It'll make you feel better."
"All right, all right. All of us were visiting our dad, and we got lucky because it was the day he woke up from his coma. When he woke up he could only recognize our voices. He told us that his stitches had been removed and that the skin in that area had grown back. He asked if we were there and you told him we were. Then he asked to speak to me alone. We had a conversation and he was mentioning something about being weak the way he is, so he's going to change just to be stronger. So sometime later I told him that I would go back to hating him and that he was dead to me once again. We then got into a fight, but I lost big time because he killed me by snapping my neck."
"Oh my god!"
"I don't want to go see our dad later today, because I'm scared that my nightmare is actually going to happen. Even if our dad told us that he would never hurt us."
"I'd be scared to Kaden, but if all of us aren't there when Daniel wakes up he's going to be wondering where you are and why you're not there. If I were to tell him why, he'd probably pull out his IV and make his way home just to talk to you. He loves you Kaden, and you know it."
"Then why would he kill me?"
"What made you dream about that anyway? That day when our dad was possessed?"
I just nodded.
"But you two forgave each other."
"I know."
I lied back down, curled up and just started crying.
In just a few seconds I felt my sister get into bed with me and started to comfort me.
"I know that I've already said this Alice, but I really am scared."
"I know, but I can promise you that our dad won't hurt you. He loves you. He'll always love you, no matter what."
"I know. It's just that..."
"What? Kaden what is it?"
"It's just that I don't know why I would dream about my dad killing me, when we apologized to each other. I love him. And I couldn't ask for a better father."
"So do I. Our dad's a great father."
"Amen."
"I know that you're scared, but do you think that you'll come with us to visit our dad?"
"I'll sleep on it and let you know later in the morning."
"Ok. Want me to sleep with you, or will you be fine."
"To be honest, I don't really care. If you want to sleep with me you can, that way my nightmare won't continue from where it left off."
"Let's sleep together, that way I'll be right by your side if you need me."
"Thank you."
"You're welcome."
