"Aunt Tracy, do I really have to go to school?"
"Yes Kaden."
"Why? I'm just going to be bullied as usual."
"Have you tried reasoning with them?"
"That never works! I tried it and I came home with a black eye three weeks ago! I want to stay home, please Aunt Tracy."
"If you don't go to school today you're going to miss out on your field trip."
"Screw the field trip! I just want to be as far away from my bullies as possible."
"Fine. You can stay home, but you have to go to school tomorrow. No exceptions."
"Fine."
I started to walk back to the room I shared with my sister, when she stopped me.
"Kaden?"
"Not now Alice. I just want to be alone."
"I know that you want to go on this field trip. After all we are going to one of our favourite camps. I know that you don't want to miss out on this, you haven't missed a camping field trip yet."
"Well, I'm going to miss this one."
"Please Kaden, I'd appreciate it if you came. Who else can make me laugh like you do?"
"Your girlfriends."
"They don't make me laugh like I'm going to piss my pants, but you do. Please Kaden."
I sighed.
"Fine I'll come."
Alice and I hugged for a few seconds and then headed off to our school.
"I'm starting to regret this decision."
"Why?"
"YOU KNOW WHY!"
"Because of your bullies?"
"YES!!! THEY'RE JUST GOING TO ANNOY ME FOR THE THREE DAYS WE'RE STAYING THERE! I should've just stayed home."
"I know it's hard to stand up to bullies, and even harder to stand up to your friends. But if you continue to show them how weak you're being, they're just going to keep on hurting you until that one fateful day, when most people end their lives. Stand your ground Kaden, that's one of the only ways to get them to stop."
"Has standing up to anyone's bullies ever worked?"
"Yes it has."
"I'll be the judge of that."7 minutes later...
I just got on the bus and was walking to a seat way in the back, so I would be closer to the washroom, but halfway to my seat Ryan tripped me.
"Walk much?"
Mostly everyone laughed.
I on the other hand just stayed silent and continued to walk to my seat. Once I got there I noticed that I was sitting next to Alice.
"Are you all right Kaden?"
"I know you laughed. I could hear you, so just shut the fuck up and don't talk to me!!!"
"I didn't laugh."
"Whatever!"
"You're letting your bullies run over you and cloud your judgment. I would never laugh at you."
"You did this time."
"You have my word that I didn't laugh."
"Promise?"
"I promise."
"I'm sorry for yelling. And telling you to..."
"It's all right. I know that you didn't mean it."3 hours and 30 minutes later...
We had just arrived at the camp and we were just starting to settle in, but the worst part of it was that I had to share a room with Jake, Ryan and Jared.
After throwing my stuff on the top bunk of the bed I was sharing with Ryan, I received one hell of a wedgie and was then pushed out the door. Once again my bullies made a joke.
"If you're trying to act like a gangster don't pull your boxers all the way up your ass!"
I could just hear everyone laughing, even if they didn't hear the joke.
Ryan picked me up and pushed me almost all the way to the main room.
When everyone saw that my underwear looked like I had received a wedgie most off them started to chuckle, but some of them told me to pull them down, and that's exactly what I did.
Alice looked at me and lip synced, "stand up for yourself" to me.
I turned to Jake, Ryan, and Jared. I was about to let them have but I sighed, and then just walked away and sat down next to Alice.
"That's right, walk away away you sorry excuse for a human!" Jared implies.
I want to say, "go fuck a duck" or "go fuck yourselves," but I knew that would only anger them more and they would probably kill me before I had a chance to kill myself.
Ryan walked up to me and sat down on the arm rest next to me, and started to push me towards my sister. He kept on doing this for countless minutes, and I finally had enough and pushed him off of the arm rest.
"Next time don't sit so close to the edge, is hate for something to happen to you."
Alice high fives me and some people chuckled.
"Kaden Beliveau, I'd like to have a word with you!"
"Ooooooooooh, you're in trouble." Everyone, except for Alice proclaims.
I walked over to one of the teachers who came along and we stepped outside.
"We've only been here for a few minutes and you're already starting to fight with the other students. If you keep this up, we'll have to send you home..."
"SEND ME HOME! I WANT TO GO HOME! I DID'NT WANT TO COME IN THE FIRST PLACE! I only came because my sister wanted me to come, so she could talk to someone else, and so she wouldn't have to have conversations with her friends, and to make her happy."
"That was nice of you, but if you want to go home I can call your Aunt to come and take you home."
"If you're still awake before it's time for lights out, I'll let you know what my decision is going to be."
"Is something bothering you? You look depressed."
"Can I switch rooms? I don't want to be in the room I'm in now. My bullies will just annoy the hell out of me. They've been bullying me for two years now. *crying* I know I have to stand up for myself, but I just can't seem to build up the courage. I've tried a few times to kill myself, I tried tying a lace from a shoe tight around my neck, I tried cutting my wrists, I even tried swan diving off of my house, but none of those tactics worked obviously. I'm taking therapy sessions to help cope with my depression, but it's not working. And it never will until my bullies stop, or one of my tactics work."
Ms. Johnson pulled me in for a two minute hug and then she spoke up.
"I know that it's not allowed, but there's one room in the girl's dormitory you could sleep in. Since all of the rooms in the men's dormitory are full. I'll explain your situation to the other staff and see what they say."
"Thank you."
