Daniel's POV
"Kaden stop!"
Kaden stopped and dropped the knife. He then curled up into a ball and started to cry.
I approached my son and pulled him in for a hug. He just continued to cry. I started to rub his back.
"Kaden, you didn't start to believe those things, did you?"
I felt Kaden nod his head.
I pulled away from the hug and told Kaden to look at me. He looked at me with his eyes which were pretty red, I wiped away some of his tears and then said, "Kaden, you don't want to do this. You'll be hurting a lot of people, including yourself. You shouldn't listen to those bullies, they're just selfish cowards who care only about themselves. You shouldn't ignore the other students. You should accept their help, including the staffs. They can help you, but if you don't let them then you're only hurting yourself more by concealing the pain."
"But if I snitch they'll kill me. They said so themselves. Dad, can you please transfer me to a different school?"
"I would but you're nearly done second grade. You can do it. Like I said before just ignore the bullies, they always try to get under your skin. They're just cowards, Kaden. Plus suicide is never the answer, I nearly ended my life but I managed to stop myself. Even though they weren't my real family they treated me as if I was. They even helped me to stop and I'm glad I listened. You're not alone Kaden and you never will be."
"You tried to kill yourself? Why?"
"Well, it was mostly because of what happened to Grayson. Each and every day I told myself that it was my fault that he almost died. Then a few days later I lost my mom and it made it even worse. I even started to cut myself. I even ran away and when I did I was about to just let myself fall from a tree. I was about twenty feet off the ground. Then Grayson showed up and scared me just by talking. I fell, but I caught a branch and then let go. When I hit the ground I just parkour rolled and I never tried to commit suicide again, all I did was cut and that's it, but I have stopped now. So, please Kaden don't end your life. I don't want to lose you or your sister. I would literally kill myself if you two died. You two mean the world to me. I've lost too many people already. I don't want to lose anymore."
I had tears raining down my face. Kaden pulled me into a hug and he was practically speechless, he couldn't find anything to say.
-2 minutes later-
I finally managed to pull myself together, Kaden had released me from his grasp.
"Are you going to be all right, dad?"
"Yeah. Just remember what I said and please hand me the knife."
"I won't forget."
Kaden then handed me the knife and I left the room. My cell phone immediately started ringing, I looked to see who it was and it was the school. I answered it.
"Hello."
"Who am I speaking to?"
"Daniel-Nicholas Beliveau."
"And are you the father of Kaden?"
"I am."
"Are you aware that he left the school?"
"I am. He's in his bedroom right now. Are you aware that he's being bullied?"
"What? By who?"
"Three of the children who go there. He didn't give me any names. Just make it stop please. I'm worried about him and what'll happen to him if this progresses. I may keep him home for a few days. He was really depressed when he came home. One of his bullies wrote him one awful note. This needs to stop."
"I agree. What did the note say?"
"You don't want to know trust me. I read it and it made my eyes glisten. If this continues I will pull my son out of that school, so make sure it stops."
"We'll do our best."
I then hung up. I didn't feel like talking to her anymore.
-a few hours later-
Alice had just arrived home.
"Hey dad."
"Hey sweetpea. How was school?"
"Good."
"Hey, before you go into your room can I talk to you about your brother?"
"Um, sure."
Alice walked over to the couch and took her seat.
"What's wrong?"
"He's being bullied at school and it seems to have been going on for awhile. When he came home early he handed me a note. I read it and it was just awful. He tried to stab himself in the neck. If this continues, I'm afraid that he may actually commit suicide and I don't want that to happen. He's almost done grade two, just like you, but if this continues I will have to pull him out of that school."
"May I see this note?"
"Do you think you can handle it? It's going to be painful to read."
"Just show me the note, please."
I took out the note from my pocket and handed it to Alice.
She opened it up and the moment she saw what was written inside she took off running to her room.
Alice's POV
Once I was in my room I ran up to my brother, hugged him and just cried.
"K-Kaden...why d-didn't you t-tell anyone about t-this? About you being bullied."
"Because they would've killed me."
"You shouldn't listen to them Kaden. Bullies only care about one person...themselves, but you Kaden you have too many people who care about you. Almost everyone in the school is worried about you. They tell me that they try to help but you never respond. I don't want to lose you just as much as dad does. We care about you...a lot. Just ignore the bullies and if someone tries to talk to you, you should respond. Give them a chance to help. Please!"
"I guess I can give it a shot."
"Thank you."
"You're welcome, Alice."
-3 days later-
8:20 am
Daniel's POV
I had just finished making my kids their breakfast. This time I made scrambled eggs with a side of bacon, sausages and toast with strawberry jam.
It took them about five minutes to eat it all and then we started to head to the school. Once we were outside I noticed that Mrs. Riggs was parked right outside.
"Hi guys. What's up?"
"It's time to return to set."
"Ok, but I'm going to have to drop my kids off at school first. It's just a ten minute walk from here."
"Ok, but hurry back."
"I will."
"Hey kids how about a race? Last one to the school is a rotten egg."
I gave my kids a fifteen second head start and then I took off.
-4 minutes later-
We had finally arrived at the school and Kaden had won the race.
"Have a good day at school kids."
"We will."
They then departed and I did the same.
Kaden's POV
I immediately started to head off to my gym class but as usual I was stopped by my bullies.
"Well, look who has finally returned. You should've stayed home. No one even wants you here. So go on get lost and don't come back. You pathetic excuse for a human, I just wish that you would hurry up and die. You don't deserve to be alive and neither does your sister. Oh and I have a question for you. You haven't told anyone about this have you? About us bullying you, because if you have you know what'll happen."
Jake held me against the lockers, pulled out a pocket knife, which was already opened and held it right near my throat.
I gulped and then shook my head.
Jake closed the blade and stowed it in his pocket.
"Good and for your sake I hope that you're telling the truth."
He then punched me five times in the face, his buddy Jared then punched me five times in my stomach and then Ryan punched me right on the chin. They then departed.
I just laid there on the floor. I knew my nose was bleeding because I could feel the liquid running down the side of my face. I then felt everywhere else on my face to see if there was anymore bleeding and there wasn't.
"That's it I'm done. I've had it. Enough is enough. Time to end it all. I won't be missed. No one cares about me. I'm doing the world a huge favor by doing this."
I walked over to the stairwell and climbed right up to the top of the school. I then walked right up to edge and looked at how far down the drop was. It looked to be about thirty feet.
-30 minutes later-
I could here sirens approaching, which means someone must've called 911. Everyone in the whole school came out and saw me up on the roof.
In my head I could just hear my bullies say, "do it, do it, do it," over and over again. I spread my arms and closed my eyes.
"This is it. All I got to do is just shift my weight and it'll all be over. No more pain nor suffering and it's going to end right here right now."
I was about to lean forward when I heard someone yell, "Stop!"
