8:30 p.m.
I had just received a text from Tracy stating that she was waiting outside. I quickly left the room, hurried downstairs and headed quickly outside before anyone had a chance to talk to me. The moment I saw her car I ran towards it and hopped on in. Tracy immediately turned around and drove off.
"Why were you in such a rush?" Tracy wondered.
"Because I knew that they would question me about how I'm feeling." I responded
"And how are you feeling?" Tracy questioned.
"About the same way I told Chandler a few hours ago." I answered
"And that was?" Tracy queried.
"Somewhat better." I replied. At The House
As soon as we entered the house Tracy had told me that there was some chicken, fried rice and some veggies in the fridge for me if I was hungry. I thanked her but I let her know that I was fine.
I headed into what used to be Kaden's and Alice's bedroom, and just hopped onto Kaden's bed. For awhile I just stared at the ceiling but then I started thinking about who killed Kaden and why Alice would off herself when she could've called the police and told them who did it. I know I would've.
"Maybe whoever killed Kaden threatened to kill her if she called the cops or maybe they pulled her into their "hiding spot," and punched her over and over a few times just incase." I thought to myself. "I hate it when I have thoughts like these it's just awful. Who knows? Maybe that's what happened. As much as I hate to think about it, it may be true."
I hope you guys are having fun up there in heaven. It's a good thing that you have each other. I sure do miss you guys. If I had one wish I would use so it was me taking your place. You guys didn't deserve to go out the way you did. I'll always treasure our memories. I'll always keep them close to my heart and never let them go. I know that I'll see you two again someday. Rest in peace Alice and Kaden. Rest in peace.A few weeks later
I gave my kids room one last look over before I closed the door behind me. I approached Tracy and gave a weak smile. I sat down at the table, grabbed the box of Lucky Charms cereal and emptied what was left into my bowl. There was only half a bowl left anyway. I poured some milk into my glass and then into my bowl. Before I started eating I let out a deep sigh of depression.
"Is everything all right?"
"I just miss my kids, that's all. Thanks for the lift to their funeral and thank you for being there for me. I needed it, even after that speech I gave."
"Yeah that was some speech. The best thing about it is that it came from your heart and it really showed how much you cared about them. I'm sure that they're looking down on you right now, smiling and are saying, "That's our dad!"
"Yeah, I bet they are. I'm glad that they came to visit me during the past couple of weeks. I had some of the best dreams that you wouldn't even believe."
"I'm sure you did. Now once you're done your breakfast I'll drive you back home."
"Ok. Thanks."15 minutes later
It was finally time to head back home. I have waited a long time for this day, but at last it is finally here.
Tracy and I had gotten into her car and we immediately drove off.On the road
"So, when you get home do you think you'll get a welcome home party?"
"No. They'll probably just greet me with hugs, bro hugs and a handshake. I don't think they would go through all that trouble just to throw me a welcome home party. I'm not saying that I wouldn't appreciate the thought. All I'm saying is that, it would just be too much and that I would be fine with just the ordinary welcome home jig."
"I get you."
"Thanks for letting stay at the house for a while."
"You're welcome. It was the least I could do and you're welcome to come by anytime."
"Thanks."The Riggs resistance
Tracy had just dropped me off and had drove away. I looked up at the clear blue sky, closed my eyes and sighed happily. I then looked at the Riggs's house and approached the front door. I hesitated for a few seconds before I knocked. I waited about two minutes before the door was answered. It was Grayson who answered it.
"Hey. Long time no see. Come inside."
I smiled and then stepped inside. Grayson closed the door behind me, I took off my shoes and before I could take off and make my way up the stairs Grayson had stopped me.
"Before you go anywhere, why don't you go and say a friendly hello to Hana and Chandler. They're downstairs."
So I headed downstairs and when I got down to the last step I saw Chandler and Hana making out. As much as I wanted to knock on the railing I couldn't help but stare. Soon enough I started to visualize that it was me and Hayley. I felt a few tears slither down my face, they were a mix of tears of sorrow and joy. I shook my head to wake myself up and then knocked on the railing.
Chandler and Hana immediately stopped and before they turned to me they wiped away any "love juice," from their mouths.
"Oh, hey. What's up?"
"Not much. Just the same old stuff, you know?"
"Yeah. So how have you been?"
"For the past couple of weeks I've been feeling depressed, because of...well, you know."
"Yeah, I understand."
"I even attended Kaden and Alice's funeral. I even delivered a powerful speech."
"It was that good?"
"It made everyone cry, including me. I recorded it if you guys ever want to listen to it you can."
"Ok. Thanks."
"Don't mention it. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to head up to Grayson's room. I just want a couple of hours to myself, so please don't disturb me. I'll keep the door open just incase you want to check on me."
"Ok."
I then headed upstairs and when Grayson tried to confront me I almost ignored him completely, but I stopped myself and turned around.
"Yes, Grayson. What would you like?"
"Firstly, can I get you anything before you head into our bedroom?"
"Some juice would be nice, please and thank you."
"Anything else?"
"No. That'll be good for now."
"Ok. I'll be right back."
Grayson returned a few seconds later with a one liter filled with Fanta orange juice. He handed it to me and I gladly accepted it.
"So, what else did you want to know, Grayson?"
"Did anything happen during the two weeks you were gone? Any suicidal tendencies?"
"Every single day. I'll tell you more later though, ok? Right now I just want a couple of hours to myself. If you want to check up on me the door will be open."
"Ok."
Once I was inside Grayson's bedroom I just lied down on his bed, charged my phone, put on a timer for two hours and put on some nice relaxing music. As soon as I closed my eyes I fell asleep in like five seconds.
