A/N: Even though Kaden and Alice wouldn't be that old by now, I'm aging them to be 7.
Without any further delay let's get on with the story.Kaden's (POV)
My sister Alice and I were outside taking turns pushing each other on the swing, we were laughing, smiling, you name it.
As soon as the swing came back and I pushed it Alice fell off and bumped her head. She started crying. I approached her and hugged her.
"Alice, I'm so, so sorry, I pushed a little too hard and now you're hurt. I'm sorry." I said.
Kaden moved Alice's head so he could see the damage on her forehead, she had a bruise, so it wasn't really serious, but I still took it into consideration. I took Alice inside and up to Aunt Tracy. I explained to her what happened and as soon as she heard me out and saw the bruise, she went to go get an ice pack. When she returned she handed me the ice pack and I immediately placed it on the bruise. I only added a little pressure. I kept it on for at least three minutes before I took it off.
"How are you feeling Alice?" I asked.
"Pretty good." Alice replied.
"Wanna go swing some more?" I wondered.
"No. Not now at least." Alice responded.
"Ok." I said.
"But we could go and watch some cartoons."
"All right." I voiced.
My sister and I immediately ran to the living room and we fought to see who would get the remote first. I let Alice win.
"Haha, I win!" Alice teased.
"Only because I let you."
"Yeah, right. And donkeys fly." Alice laughed.
Alice and I chuckled a bit before we watched some cartoons.1 hour later...
"Hey, Kaden. Have ever wondered where our parents are at?" Alice questioned.
"No. Not really. I wonder if we'll ever meet them." Kaden spoke.
"You will, don't worry." Aunt Tracy said, while approaching them. "I actually just got off the phone with your dad, I'm actually going to pick him up right now. I'd like you guys to stay here, I asked our next door neighbour, Jason to watch over you until I got back. He'll be here soon, ok?"
"Ok. Don't be long." Alice stated.
"I'll be back before you know it."Daniel's (POV)
There I was in the living room watching for Tracy's sedan to pull up, when who should grab my attention.....it was none other than Hana, which surprised me, it thought it would either be Grayson or Chandler.
I turned around.
"Oh, Hana, hi." I said.
"Hi. Where are you off to?" Hana asked.
"You probably won't believe me, but...I'm going to see my children." I responded.
"Kaden and Alice, right? Twins?" Hana said.
"Yeah...did Haley tell you?" I wondered.
"Yeah." Hana replied.
"You want to come meet your niece and nephew?"
"Sure."5 minutes later...
I heard honking coming from outside. Hana and I left. We walked up to the sedan, got in and drove off.
"Hey, Tracy."
"Hey Aunt Tracy."
"Hello, kids. How are you doing?"
"We're good."
"Have Kaden and Alice given you any trouble?" I asked.
"No, not really. They're well behaved that's for sure."
"I can't wait to see them again." I stated.
"I bet. They're stoked to see you as well."
"Really?"
"Yeah. When I told them that you called and were coming over they were filled with joy."
I chuckled a bit.
"Wow. There's just one thing though."
"What? What is it?"
"It's about their mom...she's...she's...dead. She died in her sleep."
I turned to Hana.
"Hana, even though your their aunt, would consider to be their mother? I'd hate for them to grow up without one."
"Of course." Hana smiled.
"Thanks."
I turned around and as soon as I did I saw a kid run out into the street to fetch a ball.
"Watch out!"
Tracy stepped on the brakes. The car stopped just three inches from the kid. I got out to make sure he was ok. He told me that he was ok, that he was just frightened.
I got back in and we waited for the kid to return to his yard before driving off again, which only took a few seconds, since he ran there.15 minutes later...
We had finally arrived at Tracy's home, Hana and I got out of the car while she parked it in the garage. We decided not to wait and entered the house.
As soon as Kaden and Alice heard the door close they immediately ran up to us.
"Kaden. Alice. How are you my sweethearts?"
I hugged them both and they immediately knew who I was.
"Dad!" They said, in unison.
"I have some bad news to tell you two. It's about your mother."
"What about her?" Kaden asked.
"She's dead. Died in her sleep."
Even though they weren't old enough to understand death, I could see tears fall from their eyes.
Once again I brought them in for a hug and held them tight.
A couple of seconds later Kaden spoke up.
"Uh, dad. I think that's enough."
I let go of them.
"Sorry. It's just been way too long."
"Yeah, it has." Kaden spoke. "Too long."
"How would you know? You were just newly born." I stated.
"Blame the writer."
"We would, but we don't even know him." I laughed.
"Come on, let's go to the park. If there is one around here."
"There is, but it's a pretty far walk, 45 minutes to be exact and it's back the way we came." Tracy announced.
"We can handle a little walk, right Kaden? Alice?" I asked.
"Yeah." Kaden and Alice replied.
"Hana, would you like to come?" I added.
"Sure." Hana responded.
"See you later, Tracy." I said, as the four of us left.
So as soon as we left we decided to give Kaden and Alice a piggy back ride. Both me and Hana just started running from the yard all the way to the other side of the street, but we just continued to run to the park. Just the sound of laughter coming from Kaden and Alice put a smile on both mine and Hana's face. We stopped so that Hana could speak.
"Daniel...I...Got to...tell you...these...these children...of..yours..are..truly..something." Hana said, between breaths.
"Thank you Hana." I replied.35 minutes later...
We had finally arrived at the park and the very first thing we did and practically the only thing we did was just swing on the swings, everyone except for me. I wanted to have fun believe me, but Kaden and Alice insisted that I either pushed them or gave them an under-duck. We played on the swings for over an hour before we headed back to Tracy's.Back at the house...
For the rest of our visit we just watched cartoons with my children and when the time came to leave, they didn't want me to go, they wanted me to stay. They even grabbed my legs to stop me.
"Tracy, would it be all right with you if I stayed for the night and left tomorrow?" I wondered.
"It's fine by me." Tracy voiced.
Kaden and Alice just started cheering and even danced all around.
"See you tomorrow, Hana."
"See ya." Hana replied.5 hours later...
It was time for Kaden and Alice to head off to bed, since I was sort of tired as well, I decided to go to bed myself. I walked the kids to their room tucked both of them in and gave each of them a kiss on the forehead and said, "Goodnight, my sweet little angels."
"Goodnight, daddy." Kaden and Alice said, in unison. "We love you."
"I love you two as well." I responded.
I moved the spare matress that was in here closer to the bed and slept on that. That night I had a sad, but happy dream. Haley was alive and we were at an amusement park with the kids. The first ride we went on was the rollar coaster. We went on all the rides, twice. I'd say that this would've been the best dream I've had, EVER!The next day...
As soon as I woke up which was like 7:00am, I got up from my bed and left the bedroom. So far I was the only one awake and so I decided to start making breakfast. I decided to make something delectable, like pancakes for instance, blueberry chocolate chip pancakes to be exact. It really didn't take that long, ten maybe twenty minutes to make about 20 pancakes. I just let the aroma flow through the house and wake everybody up, which is what happened, exactly. As I was letting that happen, I made a plate for both Kaden and Alice, I gave them two pancakes each.
Kaden and Alice just came running into the kitchen and were just excited to be having pancakes for breakfast. I handed them there plates and went to go and grab the syrup and margarine from the fridge. I placed both of them on the table and as you guys called it, they started to spread some margarine on each pancake and applied some syrup. Soon after that they just went at it and practically ate them both in two seconds flat. I didn't realize that I was THAT good of a chef.
Tracy soon entered the kitchen, she thanked me for making breakfast and made her own plate, she took about four pancakes. I decided to do the same and grabbed the same amount that Tracy did. I buttered up my pancakes and added some syrup. i just dug in after that and even I was surprised at my cooking, my pancakes had to be the best I've ever had, even better than my mom's. I bet that's where I got my cooking talent from.
A few hours after breakfast was over and done with Tracy took me home. I said, "goodbye," to my children and told them that I would come back and see them again. Before we left Tracy went next door and asked if Jason could look after the kids until she got back. He happily accepted and even headed there now. Once Tracy returned we got into her sedan and drove off, but while doing so Kaden and Alice were waving to me as I departed. I waved back until they were out of sight.
