One year later.
'I just don't think this is a good idea, Demi.' Joe says causing her to smile.
'Aren't I the who freaks out over things like this.' She replies.
'You're still recovering.' He says and she shakes her head.
'I'm fine, Joe. I'm still bleeding a little but other than that I'm fine and she's fine.' She replies gesturing to their daughter in the carseat.
'You're sure?' He asks and she nods her head.
'Positive, plus we're driving so we can come home if we need to.' She replies.
'Okay.' He says. They both get in the car and begin the drive to the cabin.
'It's crazy how much things have changed since last year.' Demi says and he nods his head.
'It definitely is... What was that you said no babies till I put a ring on it?' He asks causing her to laugh.
'And yet I still don't have a ring on it...' She replies holding her left hand out in front of her.
'That is true.' He says smiling slightly.
'So when are you going to put a ring on it?' She asks glancing over at him.
'That would ruin the whole surprise, wouldn't it?' He replies linking his fingers through hers.
'Surprises... Don't we do them well.' She says glancing back at where their daughter is sleeping peacefully in her carseat.
'Betsy was a good surprise though, wasn't she?' He asks and she nods her head.
'The best.' She replies.
'Is there anything you want to do while we're away?' He asks.
'I just want to relax. I feel like the past few months have been so full on just getting ready for her arrival and Christmas; this is our first chance to properly relax.' She replies and Joe nods his head.
'Relaxing sounds good.' He says.
______
'We're here, babe.' Joe says glancing into the back of the car where Demi is now sitting.
'Okay. She's still asleep so we can just leave her in the carseat and take her in.' She replies glancing down at the infant.
'Okay. I'll bring the bags in soon, let's get you two inside.' He says smiling. They both get out of the car and he gets the carseat out before making their way over to the front door.
'Only us...' Demi says opening the door and making her way inside. Over the past year Demi has become a lot more comfortable around Joe's family; after that first Jonas family vacation Demi realised that his family all accept their relationship.
'Oh sweetheart, how are you doing?' Denise asks instantly wrapping her arms around Demi.
'I'm okay.' Demi replies.
'And how is the baby?' Denise asks letting go of Demi and moving to hug Joe.
'She's good, sleeping.' Joe replies using his free arm to hug his mom.
'Everyone is in the lounge so just go through... I'm just going to the bathroom.' Denise says.
'You okay?' Joe asks as his mom disappears into the bathroom.
'She's going to need fed.' Demi replies quietly and he nods his head.
'You don't want to feed her in front of everyone.' He says and she shakes her head.
'I just- It's hard enough without feeling self conscious in front of everyone.' She replies and he kisses the side of her head.
'Okay well why don't we pop in and say hello then we can head up to the room so you can feed her?' He suggests causing her to smile.
'Good idea.' She replies. They make their way into the living room and are instantly greeted by everyone.
'Oh my goodness, how are you doing?' Danielle asks rushing towards Demi.
______
'Demi knows she didn't have to go upstairs, doesn't she? We're okay with her feeding Betsy wherever and whenever she needs to.' Denise says and Joe nods his head.
'I know but I just think with everything she's just finding it much easier to feed in private.' Joe replies.
'Oh okay.' Denise says and Joe smiles.
'So I've got something to tell you... When Eddie and Dianna were at ours a few weeks ago I asked Eddie how he'd feel if I asked Demi to marry me.' Joe says causing Denise to gasp.
'What did he say?' She asks and he glances towards the door to make sure no one is nearby.
'He said as long as I continued treating Demi the way I am then he'd be okay with it. He knows how happy Demi is and as long as she continued being this happy, he'll be happy.' Joe replies.
'So what are you going to do?' Denise asks.
'Well I've got a ring in the car... I'm just not sure when I want to do it. I want to make it special for her.' He replies.
'Oh Joe! You know Demi wouldn't want an over the top proposal; she'd probably prefer something just the two of you, three including Betsy.' Denise says and Joe nods his head.
'I know.' He replies quietly.
