Chapter 24
Your future is inevitable…
You will become me…
Danielle..where are you..?
Your time is up!
Danny bolted upright; a gasp escaping him as he whispered, “Danielle”, his eyes wild before noticing two, pale hands hanging limply around him. Quietly, he gently placed both arms by her side and noticed Tucker's sweater made as makeshift pillow.
Tucker.
'Okay, if Sam was by my side sleeping and well, I don't know what happened to me -wait, what did happen? Where's Tucker??'
“Oh wow, you woke up sooner than I thought you would have. Congrats man, you're getting better at this which means you're healing even if it's just a little.”
Danny didn't say anything and only sat there with a dumbfounded look as Tucker took a seat in front of him. After another minute of silence Danny cleared his throat and finally whispered, “How long have I been knocked out?”
“Two days.”
“Two days?!”
Tucker quickly shushed him but not before chuckling, “I'm kidding, It's only been an hour and a half. It's around 6:45 A.M. right about now in the human world.” Danny calmed down a bit, a sigh escaping from his lips.
Danny glanced at the sleeping class in front of him before asking in a hoarse whisper, “What happened?”
“You were having a panic attack when Josh, Dash, Marcus and Jose had gone after you,” Tucker stated bluntly only to have Danny nod, his eyes downcast, “ That explains why my body aches, “ Danny said nonchalantly before asking Tucker, “Did I fight back?” Tucker noticed the slight waver in his voice, concern laced in his tone as well as fear. Tucker sighed slightly and shook his head, “No but Sam did defend your honor.”
Danny smiled, happy that his girlfriend loved him as much as she did. But quickly as it came, his smile was wiped off his face and replaced by a frown. He had yet another panic attack. He was doing so good this time, how could he let this happen again?
Tucker glanced at him debating whether to ask his question or not but with the bags he had under his eyes he knew he had to. He just hoped that he would open up, at least a little.
“You want to talk about it?”
Danny merely shook his head in response; he DID want to talk about it but they were his issues and it just didn't seem fair to him for Tucker or Sam or ANYONE for that matter to have to carry a burden as heavy as the one he has.
“Man, you and me; we're brothers, you can tell me anything. I'm always going to be here for you.”
Danny smiled at Tucker's words; his almost dead beating heart growing warm with each word that was said to him. Thinking back he knew that Jazz would want him to open up even if he didn't want to. That's something they both shared in common; they were both very persistent.
“Thanks man, I'll always be here for you too. Forever brothers.”
Another moment of silence passed before Danny took a deep breath in with Tucker waiting patiently; not wanting him to push him away and close up again.
“I'm stressed man, this situation is stressing me out to no ends. I swear by the end of this trip my raven hair is going to be filled with grey hair that I'll have to buy black hair dye to make sure people don't start questioning.”
