Chapter 27
“So,” Ember started as she eyed everyone, “you're the dipstick’s class?” The students nodded absentmindedly, not knowing what to say to the Ghost. It was quiet, the only sound being heard was Danny's small snores.
Jack broke his gaze away from the window and stared at his son with worry, which didn’t go unnoticed by Sam. She stared between the two scientist in thought.
Maddie was glaring at the floor as she sat next to her husband and Mr.Lancer, muttering things to herself unaware that Sam was staring at her. Jack, on the other hand caught Sam’s gaze and lowered his eyes in shame before meeting them once again. Catching the worry he held within his eyes she sighed. “He’s going to be fine Mr. Fenton, he just needs a small nap to be more alert with his surroundings.” Jack still seemed unsure but nodded, after all it seemed that Sam and Tucker knew him better than he did.
Both Tucker and Sam stared at one another trying to decided whether if Jack was being truthful or if he was just trying to get information from them to give to Maddie. A small chuckle brought Sam and the others out of their silent ride towards Pandora’s and their attention was redirected towards a small redhead who had been pretty silent throughout the journey.
“Mikey? Are you alright?”
Another laugh made everyone furrow their eyebrows together as they looked at one another in both worry and confusion. “Am I alright? Now that seems like such a stupid question, doesn’t it? Of course I’m not alright. No one here is!” A little bit surprised by the sudden outburst a few of the students moved away from the scrawny nerd. “And forgive me if I seem rude, but I miss my home and while I do understand that Danny has gone to extreme measures to keep us safe, it seems that he’s just guessing throughout this whole trip.”
Sam stared at the teen who was now sitting in front of her after Leslie gave up her seat to go sit near the window , never losing her calm demeanor and instead just raised her right eyebrow, “ What’s your point?” Tucker took a quick glance towards Maddie, making sure she wouldn’t butt in the conversation as she often did. Thankfully she was still muttering to herself and seemed to be dozing off to sleep. ‘Good’, he thought with a relief before turning back to Mikey.
“My point? My point is I want him to stop taking a nap and justify things for me. Like how does he know this place? How does he know these ghost? And why is he keeping secrets from us, the same exact people he’s trying to save?”
“Listen babypop,” Ember began only to be stopped by a hand on her shoulder, turning she saw Danny with his eyes still closed and his head still leaning towards Sam. “I’ll handle it Ember. I can’t have you burn the carriage...again.” Ember huffed angrily at the mention of the incident that happened months ago but nodded anyway and sent a glare to Mikey, who shifted uncomfortably in his seat.
“How long have you been awake?” Sam asked with a defeated sigh as she felt the weight of his head leave hers, “Since you asked Mikey if he was alright. I thought something happened.”
Sam closed her eyes before turning to him with a glare, “you need to sleep Danny.” Danny shook his head as he rubbed the sleep out of his system, “What I need is some coffee.”
Jack turned to stare at his son, “Since when did you start drinking Danny-Boy?” Danny bit his lip in thought as he tried to remember, “since I was 15 I think? I can’t remember exactly, besides i don’t drink it often only when I need an energy boost, if I have too much I start bouncing off the walls.” Jack nodded before telling his son, “ we need to work on your sleeping schedule son. I also want to talk to you about some stuff.”
