Chapter 26“Oh no, we’re not about to get on a carriage that could send us to our death! I forbid it!” Everyone practically ignored Maddie now, too tired and exhausted to listen to her rants yet again and climbed the carriage.
Everyone but Valerie and Danny.
“Valerie please go inside the carriage, you’ll make this easier if you please just listen to me,” the secret hunter looked sceptical as she continued to eye him, something that didn’t go unnoticed by the hero, “I promise I won't let anything bad happen to you or anyone here, you know that.” Valerie nodded softly before turning to her firm nod he knew quite well. The problem for her is that she does know that he’ll keep all of them safe. Now. Back then she wouldn’t have known at all and that’s what makes her uncomfortable. She and Danny told eachother everything. Well, almost, everything but she thought they trusted each other, this trip proved to her quite the contrary.
Still, she climbed the beautiful carriage and found herself a seat near the far end, away from Ember, and placed herself in the soft cushions that made her bones and muscle relax a bit painfully. Sighing, she looked outside the small window before closing her eyes. She could feel that the end of this field trip is almost here.
Meanwhile, Danny focused his attention at the red head in front of him, “Maddie please get in the carriage.” The hunter only wrinkled her nose at the boy in front of her that posed as her son, “no, I will not.” Danny only sighed as he ran his right hand down his face, “Maddie I’m not asking you. Get. In. The. Carriage.” Once again the hunter refused, “I don’t know who you think you are but I will not get in a carriage where a ghost could be leading us to our death and where my superiority is being ignored by everyone here, especially by you.”
Now, Danny’s not going to lie it hurt when Maddie said this but now is not the time to deal with his emotions, they’re wasting time and he needs to get everyone home but he can’t do that if Maddie is acting like a stubborn child. “Maddie I don’t care about your racial beliefs against ghost I am trying to get everyone home and it’s impossible for me to do my job when you’re acting worse than a stubborn teenager. Get in the carriage if you want to get out of here”
Maddie took a deep breath and leaned in real close toward Danny’s face, their noses practically touching as she uttered one simple word that led Danny go to extreme measures.
“No.”
His eyes flashing green and his jaw clenched, he swiftly picked up the older woman and threw her over his shoulder, quickly climbing inside the carriage and closing the door behind him.
“Drive.” The teen barked out making those near him shiver hearing the same voice as the one from when they were back in the prison once again. Not missing a second the carriage began to move forward, “Put me down you insufferable brat! I am your mother and you will do as I say!” The students felt their eyes widen hearing the words that were being thrown out of one of their chaperones mouth's.
“Mrs. Fenton that is no way to speak-”
Mr. Lancer was cut off by Danny, who didn't hesitate to fire back, “Oh I'm going to put you down only if you be quiet for the rest of this trip.” He knew she wasn't but might as well take advantage of it. Nevertheless he placed her down gently however, the moment he put her down a hand was thrown in the air and a loud smack was heard throughout the carriage followed by a few gasps.
“Maddie?!”
“Mrs. Fenton!”
Danny sucked in a breath before looking up into the cold hard eyes of Maddie, “hitting me won't do anything in this Maddie. I am still in charge of all of you and as much as it kills you I was once your little boy, you hitting me won't change that.” Taking a seat in between Ember and Sam, both who glared daggers at the hunter, he continued, “ as soon as we make it back to Amity Park I'm moving out because I can't deal with living under the same roof as you any longer.”
