Chapter 40

Dash rolled his eyes for the fourth time listening to Paulina wail and cry. She had been complaining about Danny since she found out that she couldn’t have him. Why he was helping her, he honestly had no idea. Jose was there anyway, they didn’t need him and frankly, the feeling was mutual.

“We were supposed to be together forever!”

Once again, the brunette wailed followed by hiccups. It was at this point that Dash had already had enough and clearly so did the ghost maid in her bedroom did as well.

“Paulina” he began but was cut off by a broken sob, “Paulina will you listen-”

“What does she have that I don’t?!”

“I’m breaking up with you,” he stated simply bringing the latina out of her crying state for a second.

“What?” she whispered and Dash shrugged before crossing his arms, his eyes trying to do the thing that Danny seems to do and not show his emotions.

“You heard me.”

Dash wanted to laugh at how ridiculous she looked, opening and closing her mouth like a puffer fish. Especially with her mascara and eyeliner running down her face. Thankfully he stopped himself.

“You can’t leave me, you’re nothing without me, you hear me?! Nothing!”

Thankfully Josh managed to shush her and amazingly she listened. “I don’t care Paulina. You can’t expect me to stay with you when you’re so in love with Danny. I may not be the smartest person in the class but I’m not much of a hopeful idiot to be waiting for someone who clearly doesn’t want me. Newsflash, Danny is getting married! He clearly doesn’t want you so leave them -”

He wasn’t able to finish because suddenly a hand had made it way across his face. He’s smart enough to know that he was just slapped by the queen bee.

“Get out.”

“Gladly.”

As Dash left the girl who began crying to Jose, he felt his own heart break. Because despite the attitude the girl had, despite their fights and despite everything in their relationship that was bad.

He loved her.

But he loved himself more.

His parents have always taught him to love himself despite his many insecurities.

Even his soap operas taught him better.

He didn't want to end up like Sebastian in “Amor Rompido” if anything, he wanted to be the better guy. The nice one that didn’t end up in jail or get killed at the end of it all.

As he walked away from the girl’s room, he made his way down to the ballroom where he last saw the class.

Walking in, he saw how the class and ghost alike had gotten the room to look more festive for the party. The blonde also took notice how many guest had begun to arrive however, before dwelling on it any longer he felt himself continue his walk.

It wasn’t until he ended up face to face with Leslie that he realized that he had absolutely no idea what to do.

Maybe I do need Paulina’

Shaking the thought away, he focused onto what the short girl was telling him.

“Are you just going to stand there or are you going to help?”
