I run down the road to the park in the dark. I'm late. Dang step mom. I slow down when I reach the entrance to the park. It's quiet, no one seems to be here.
"Dylan?" I call
No answer.
"Dylan?" I call again
"Um actually it's me." Someone says
I look over and see Max coming out from the darkness. I take a step back.
"M-m-max?" I stutter
"Hey Cam." He says weakly
"What are you doing here?" I ask
"It was actually me who wanted to talk to you. I had Dylan text you...I knew you wouldn't say yes to me." He says
"What's there to talk about? You didn't accept my other apologies." I say
"Yeah I realize that.." he says scratching the back of his head
"So what do you want?" I ask
"I realize that I'm a stupid boy and I'm sorry. I didn't mean to hurt your feelings. I'm sorry it's just I don't know." He says
"Max I like you but the labels are what scare me." I say looking at the ground
"Labels don't mean anything. None of it does." Max says
"If labels don't mean anything then why do we make something of them? Why are labels a part of our lives cause they just destroy us. We're just expected to live up-" Max cuts me off by kissing me
I don't pull away, I let him. When he pulls away he looks at me.
"Because labels are something people put on us and expect us to live up to them. They don't mean anything to me." He says
I look down at the ground.
Max hugs me, he feels warm and smells good.
"Is that..um..all you wanted to talk about?" I ask
"Will you go out with me?" He asks quickly
"Well I mean..I don't know.." I say
"Cam, take risks, be the girl you were before your step mom came into your life, because I miss that Camille and I want her back." Max says
"How do you know what I was like before?" I ask
"Because little do you know I've liked you since then." He says
I look at him.
"Alright. One chance Max, you get one chance. Don't mess it up." I say
Max smiles.
"Don't worry Cam, I won't." He says and kisses me again, this time I kiss back
