Harvey's POV

After school, Laney and I take a hike through the back forests. We needed to clear our minds, so why not take a hike?
"What if we run into a bear?" Laney asks
"Then we play dead." I say
"That really works?" She asks making a face
I laugh.
"That's what I read." I say
"And where did you read that?" She asks
"Online." I say
"You can't trust everything that's on the internet Harvey!" She says
I shrug.
"Hey look at this Caterpillar!" Laney exclaims
We bend down to get a close look. It's green and looks fuzzy.
"Must be getting ready to cocoon." I say
"Definitely." She says
We stand back up and continue walking.
"For a cheerleader I'm surprised you like the woods." I say
She gives me a glare.
"I'm joking." I say
She rolls her eyes.
"Oh Harvey.." she says and sighs
"Oh Laney.." I say mimicking her
"Stoppp." She says shoving me
"Stoppp." I say using a girly voice
She rolls her eyes again.
"If you roll your eyes to much then your eyes will get stuck like that." I say
"Yeah right." She says
I laugh. We find a nice open area that overlooks the town and has a perfect view of the soon to be sunset. We sit down and breathe.
"It's so pretty out." Laney says
"Yeah, perfect spring day." I say
She nods.
"I love living here." She says
"Me too." I say
"I'm sure you miss England though." She says
"I don't really remember it, we moved when me and Max were 6." I say
She nods.
"I'd love to visit again sometime." I say
"Me too." She says
"Maybe we can go on vacation together sometime." I suggest
"That would be awesome." She says
I nod.
"Yeah.." I say
There's a few moments of silence while we just look out at the sky and the town below us.
"Do you think we could ever be something?" I ask finally
She pauses for a moment.
"Yeah, it could be a possibility." She says
I nod.
"But what about Camille?" She asks
"I gave up on that dream. We can only ever be friends, I can't pull her and Max apart that's not fair." I say
She nods.
"Makes sense. You're a good person you know that right?" Laney says
"Yeah, I know but I don't always believe it." I say
"Well you should. Don't ever doubt yourself Harvey. You can get yourself places, just stay true to who you are." She says
"Thats some good advice." I say
She laughs.
"Sure, ok. Thanks." She says
I nod.
"No problem." I say
I check the time, 5:00.
"We should be getting back, it's 5." I say
"Yeah we should." She says
We stand up and begin making our way back down the path.
As we reach the end Laney stops me.
"Harvey look!!" She exclaims
I turn my head and see a deer and her fawn feeding.
"Aw." I say
"It's adorable." She says
I snap a picture and we continue walking.
We reach her house at around 5:45.
"Thanks for tonight Harvey,  I had fun." She says
"Me too." I say
"See you tomorrow." She says
"Bye." I say
I watch as she walks up her driveway and slips inside her house. I make my way back home, when I enter, mom is making dinner.
"Oh hey Harvey, how was your hike?" She asks
"Great." I say
"That's good. Max and Camille are in the tv room if you wanted to say hi." She says
I nod.
"How's Laney?" Mom asks
"Good." I say
"I think you and her would make a good couple." She says
"Yeah I guess, we're just best friends though." I say
"I understand." She says
I walk up the stairs, I knock on the door to the tv room. When there's no answer, I crack open the door and peak my head in. Max is watching the tv, while Camille is asleep cuddled up next to him.
"Hey." I whisper
"Oh hey, how was it?" Max asks turning his attention to me.
"Good." I say
He nods. I close the door and walk to our bedroom. I sit down at my desk and start my homework. Today was a good day, it's been awhile since I've had one of those.
