One day you're both watching one of your favourite movies. It was a quiet afternoon, his head is on your lap but then he turns to hug you wanting to wrap his arms around your waist. You quickly move blocking your tummy, Matthew then squints his eyes at your sudden movements but realises what you did and asks why you covered yourself, all he wanted was to hug you. You look down to him and wanting to be honest with him you tell him how you feel.

"I just, I'm- just worried about my tummy." You spill, ending your sentence with an almost unnoticeable smile.

"Your tummy?" He sits up. "You mean this here." He then goes straight for your tummy and tickles you. You involuntary laugh and then he stops after a few seconds.

"Sweetheart don't do this to yourself. I didn't want to bring it up but I've noticed how you've been acting recently, not wanting to eat certain foods, keeping a strict diet and working out more, not like there's a problem with that but I miss the one I used to share chips with when we couldn't go to sleep."

You smile at his comment remembering nights where you both weren't tired and would stay up watching movies together.

His eyes are fixed on you now trying to convince himself that you're fine but still sees a glimpse of sadness in your eyes.

"What else is bothering you y/n?" He asks sincerely worried about you. "Are you worried about your appearance? Because if so, let me tell you now that you're beautiful and an overall amazing person. Honestly everything about you is precious. Don't worry about silly things like your tummy babe, you're-"

You don't let him finish because by then you're in tears at his use of words. Your appearance and self worth has always been a touchy subject to talk about and now hearing your boyfriend talk about it makes you cry even harder because you haven't felt this loved in a while.

"Aww no babe don't cry, it's ok it's ok." He grabs your body and embraces it making you feel warm and loved. You feel his strong arms around you and you feel your body relax slowly. Matthew didn't fully know that this subject was a sensitive one for you and curiously wanted to know more about it.

Once Matt noticed that you have calmed yourself, he braced himself and asked you softly, "Are you ok? I feel like there's something you're not telling me."

You just sat there trying to get rid of the knot in your throat but as hard as you tried to calm down, you still felt that sting like feeling.
"Sorry-" you paused.

"Hey no need to be sorry love, I'm here to listen to whatever you have to say, take your time." He told you trying to find your eyes.

"It's just that, the way I look has always been something I'm worried about. I don't think I'm good enough, there are certain things I don't like about myself." Not wanting to break down crying again, you stop yourself and take a deep breath.

Once ready again you continue to say, "I've always hated my hair, eyes, body shape, hands, even small things like my lips." At this point you realised there was no going back. You told Matt your deepest insecurities and now he was intrigued to find out more.

But instead of him asking you more questions, he got an idea. He thought it would make you feel better if he told you positive things about everything you disliked about yourself.

"Y/n, I really have no idea why you hate your appearance so much. If you saw yourself in my eyes, you'd be amazed at how easily you're to die for. I've honestly never met such an amazing person like yourself, you're too kind and lovable it's impossible to dislike you. You said you hated your hair right? Well that's one of my favourite things about you. I love the different ways you style it, those messy morning buns you do before making breakfast for the both of us, or the way you straighten it when we go out, or when you curl it for special occasions.

And your eyes, gosh I love your eyes. You have no idea how beautiful your eyes are when the sun hits them. I fall in love with them every time, it's like finding something different in them everyday, I find sincerity, honesty, kindness and compassion.

You also mentioned body shape, y/n your body is perfect the way it is, there is no need to distort it simply because it doesn't fit certain society ideals or your ideals for that matter. Your body looks healthy and I'd love for you to keep it that way. The way your body looks drives me crazy, you have curves in the right places and have nothing to worry about.

I'm also sure you mentioned hands. Your hands are my absolute favourite. I love the way your hands feel on my hands, the way they fit perfectly together when we're walking down the street or when we're cuddling. I like how delicate your hands can be when they're brushing through my hair making me fall asleep or when they hold me in place when you're leaning in for a kiss.

And lips. What can I say, your lips are amazing. How can you hate your lips? They're soft and plumped properly, they're not too thin nor too thick. And they're perfect for occasions like this."
Matthew then leans in to your face and gives your lips a small peck making you smile. The fact that he was listening to you made you feel loved and reassured. The only thing that really mattered to you now was that he loved you, the way he showed it to you was perfect and couldn't wish for a better boyfriend like himself because at times like this, you were grateful to have him.

"Thank you, I love you." You told him gratefully.
