Anna woke with an uncomfortable feeling. The room was quiet and the only sound she heard was her breathing. The bathroom light was still on, casting a light shadow in its rectangular shape across the floor directly to the center of the hotel room separating her bed from the small kitchenette. Even though the room was quiet she was sure she woke up to the sounds of someone walking across the thick carpet. Anna laid still in her bed and stared into the dark kitchen past the light. Nothing moved, nor did she dare. Several minutes went by or maybe just one she wasn't sure as she tried to listen for any kind of movement.

Just as she was about to relax she saw a movement across the kitchen cabinets. Anna froze staring at the spot she was sure to catch the action of someone in her kitchen. Why she didn't just reach up and turn on the light to scream if someone was inside her room she didn't know. Maybe because she was staring at the solid cupboards dark in color and only saw a shadow that cast under the walls underneath them. She could only barely make out a difference in shades of color in the shadows.

Anna was sure someone was in there ducking down behind the small counter as shadows were casting on the walls from the light that spilled out of the bathroom. She held her breath at first and waited.

Then she found it, the outline of a girl. Though she should feel fear, Anna felt familiarity. At first, she thought it was Harmony that might have flown out to her hotel, slept with some guy who worked here to get into her room and was going to rip into her for all the lies she told. But Harmony by now would have said something and not just stared at Anna from the darkness within in her kitchen. Anna focused harder and realized this girl with long hair from a head that seemed a bit too tilted to one side stared back at her. Anna stayed as quiet and still as if she were still asleep while reminding herself to breathe. She stared as the girl's form as it got more prominent in shape and wondered why she was still present for Anna realized what she was.

After only a moment more Anna watched as the girl started to walk towards her and Anna knew she wasn't a human on this earth anymore for the girl moved by seconds instead of by steps. Anna had blinked which was enough time for the girl to step from the kitchen's back wall to a foot away from the casted bathroom light.

Anna could see clearly that this girl was familiar to her. It looked like Jake's sister Stacy. Immediately Anna's heart started racing. Did Jake call his dad and they flew Stacy to her to convince her to go home. Yet Anna stared instead of moving her body as there was something wrong with this girl. She didn't look like the peppy Stacy she knew, this was a more worried melancholy insecure version standing just out of view of the light.

Anna blinked again and the girl had moved much closer to Anna skipping the light entirely. She wanted to sit up and turn on the light, but she still couldn't move. Her brain felt like it was missing something, like the facts weren't present but she was seeing a representation of them. She watched this crooked version of a blond girl stand closer to Anna with the light behind her. The girl's face was swollen and her hair covered most of her features but had the outline of the familiar sister of Jake. The girl reached out to Anna scaring her enough to automatically tighten her bladder before she disappeared into thin air.

Anna blinked several times aware that the feeling someone was in the room was gone. Finally, she sat up and the light on the table next to her bed. Her eyes darted to every corner of her room and knew it as she was doing it that she was indeed alone.

Shaking away her discomfort, it had taken Anna a minute to remember what was happening in her life. Jake and Brittany. She sent a message before she had laid down, but Jake didn't respond which pissed her off. Maybe he was so tired that he was sleeping and recovering from the drug she slipped him, she thought so she wasn't going to take it personally.
