Jake was still in shock that she had lost so much money but the man inside him was fighting to not gloat on winning the bet. He decided to keep quiet for the moment to judge her mood. Anna didn't seem as put off by the loss of money as he thought she would. Strangely he was felt overly electric and wanted to dance across the floor which was something he rarely wanted to do. Echoing thoughts of "What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas" kept repeating in his mind from commercials that enhanced this way of thinking.

When they settled at the table Anna's eyes were dilated and so were his, which made him aware that he wasn't going to restrain himself so he clasped his hands together with the intention of keeping them busy with only what was in front of him. Jake looked into Anna's eyes and realized what he had feared. Something was definitely wrong. It was the lack luster in the color and the blackness of the pupils that seemed darker. They reminded him of people's eyes that he had studied who followed through with bad intentions. It was like a part of their soul was missing, the part that screams common logic. This is what brought fear within him. Serial killers had that same trait. He wasn't sure if she was truly angry or not because her body language told a different story as the thin strap of her dress fell off her shoulder and she let it as she smiled at him invitingly. Everything in him wanted to slide the strap back into place to cover up the part of her breasts that was exposed above her black lace bra he could now see. The worst part was he stopped caring that he felt fear of her but instead wanted just to touch her.

A show of dancers started performing on a nearby stage entertaining the gamblers as the guests whistled and hollered at their strip tease tricks. Jake was trying everything he could not to get an erection so he didn't watch the girls on the stage as his eyes concentrated on Anna but Anna couldn't stop herself from looking every once in a while. For some reason that was exciting Jake as well, so he brought up subjects to talk about while they waited for the dinners they ordered.

"You look beautiful Anna. When the lights hit your necklace, the vial is as red as your hair." Jake said.

"That is because it is blood." Anna replied easily.

"What?" Jake asked caught off guard.

"Yes, my mother's blood." Anna said wiping a few small beads of sweat. She took off the long scarf she was wearing around her shoulders and set it next to her.

"Why do you wear your mom's blood around your neck?"

"Because my father told me that she used to call me her little Dragonfly Princess."

Their dinners arrived and both started eating before she continued.

"My mother loved dragonflies because she thought they looked fierce and feminine at the same time. We lived in an area where there were many and she said dragonflies represented travel and gathering of information. Since I didn't get to know her in life, I made dragonflies the symbol of my magazine. She used to model before she died and it was my way to keep her a part of my life. It fits my personality because I love to travel fast, bite when threatened, and am hunter of information with a treat." Anna said making Jake laugh before taking and finishing another bite. Jake was intrigued.

"My father had bought my Mom four pieces of a jewelry set. He gave her a piece for each special occasion. The hairclip he gave to my mother on their wedding night. I got it when I turned into a teenager." Anna said moving her head down a little bit to give Jake a closer look. "I also have a pin with the same dragonfly that Dad gave my mom on their first anniversary. I got it when I turned sixteen."

Jake waited while she ate and swallowed more of her dinner as he had already eaten half of his. He didn't think he was that hungry, but the energy that was raging through him kept his hands busy with his fork.
