"A lot has happened here. You need to leave Jake and come home. Something is wrong with your dad. He knows you lied." Harmony wrote in a text.
"What is going on?" Anna wrote back shortly. Harmony called and Anna put her on the speaker phone.
"I miss you." Harmony said.
"I miss you too. What is going on with Daddy?" Anna asked.
"First, a detective wants to talk to you because you were posing as me Friday night when Jolene was killed. They want to know what happened exactly. Ryan was caught and it seems he gave the cops our website information since you signed the email Dragonfly Princess. The news people are trying to connect Jolene's death to a bunch of girls that were killed and dumped at rest areas. They have yellow tape on the dumps and pictures all over on TV."
Anna was glad Harmony couldn't see how red her cheeks were. She saw that Jake must have stopped at the most recent in the chain of dead girls at the rest stop when he was heading to the casino. Anna had been following the information on TV and heard the comparison to Jolene.
"Your dad is really sick." Harmony said. There was something in her voice that made Anna uncomfortable.
"You spoke to Daddy?" Anna asked.
"Yep, I was lying in his bed talking to him for a minute and we had a delicious conversation on how many little lies you told." Harmony responded sweetly.
Anna said nothing. Harmony continued.
"But because I love you more than anyone, he made me get off his bed and he cooked me dinner. We are leaving for Diamond Island tomorrow morning. We were supposed to leave today but you hadn't showed up at home. Something is going on because suddenly Nate and Colin are rushing around and acting strange. They aren't telling me shit, other than when to be at the house."
"That's weird. Jake is going back home for some reason. He was supposed to go to College."
"So, Stacy must still be missing. Why are you following Jake?"
"I wanted to have his baby and lure him to the island. It didn't work out because he has a girlfriend." Anna answered.
"You had sex with him?" Harmony asked surprised.
"Yep, and I used the pills you gave me." Anna said.
"I'm so proud of you. Yet, I know you're ovulating, so you planned this?"
"Yep, the timing was perfect." Lucy said confidently.
"So, you are pregnant?" Harmony said. Anna could hear the disbelief in her voice.
"Don't tell dad." Anna begged playing the part.
"Anna..." Harmony said as if she was going to tell her something but instead finished, "I won't. When are you going to be home?"
"I'm on my way now. I'll call when I can." Anna said.
It worried her that Harmony thought her dad was so ill. Anna wondered why Colin and Nate were in a hurry. Was it worry over her? Were they thinking she was running away and not going their island? Good, Anna said. The punishment might be less severe.
"There are changes coming. I can feel it. It makes the hairs on my back of her neck stand up." Anna said to herself.
She drove five miles over speed limit and concentrated on driving straight. Jake was six cars ahead of her and sped up to ten miles over on long stretch of road. Anna sped up she kept an eye out for cops.
The pain of the pelvic cramps was consistent. Anna took one of her anxiety pills which would keep her awake longer than an energy drink could. Anna kept up with Jake until she pulled off to Ashland while Jake stayed on his path home.
