Jake was livid that Anna had knocked them down. He thought he had seen Anna through the crowd a few minutes before the accident but hadn't been sure. Then before he knew it Anna was right in front of him. Jake had been subconsciously still looking for Anna every moment since he had arrived at Brittany's but he was still surprised to see her. It wasn't Anna's red hair that he caught his eye at first, but her bright green eyes stood out and he knew her face immediately. They were wild, and scary. Jake knew Anna was up to something as he could see the sadistic look in her eyes.

When Anna let go of the guy she was skating with, Jake didn't have time to react. The guy slammed into him knocking him down on the ice where they slid for what seemed like forever. It was when his back hit the boards of the rink that Jake could look up only to see that Anna had tripped Brittany. He fought to get up but all the people they knocked over along the way were in a big tangled mess and he was pinned in the back of the crowd. He felt helpless as he could hear Brittany's screams over the music.

By the time he crawled out of the mess, Brittany was passed out on the ice. Wobbly on his feet Jake rushed to her and helped the security guard get her leg supported which looked at a wrong angle. He was sure that Anna was watching close by. He had to get Brittany out of there quickly and was upset that she was hurt and had to go to the hospital. Jake made sure Brittany was comfortable before rushing to their locker to change his shoes and get their stuff they were storing.

Jake finally got a response from Brittany's mother and he called her back quickly. He told her that they were in a skating accident, leaving out the information about Anna. She was worried when he informed her that Brittany had to go to the hospital because she might have broken her leg. Upset Brittany's parents left their shopping and told Jake they'd be there in minutes. Brittany's mother wanted more information but her father made her hang up until they got to Brittany.

When Jake was heading back to Brittany, he caught sight of Anna sitting next to her. His heart had felt like it jumped right out of his chest as if his skin was too thin to hold it. He walked a little bit slower because he forced his brain to really look at the situation before he showed up on it. There was something odd about Anna sitting so close to Brittany. It was the look on Brittany's face that jerked his attention into different levels. There was something severely wrong. Jake hadn't seen that look on her face except for once eight years ago when she had seen that her missing rabbit had gotten stuck in the warm engine from her father's truck because it had gotten out the night before during the winter. It was too late to save the rabbit she had loved so much that it was traumatizing. It was that look that made Jake snap out of his stupor as he realized that Anna was showing Brittany pictures from her phone.

He was barely able to register what the pictures were but he knew they were bad. Jake knew he hadn't taken but a few pictures with Anna, yet those wouldn't have caused such a horrific look from Brittany.

He was upon them when he heard barely a mention of a baby from Anna that confused him but he knew he was in trouble as Anna had convinced Brittany they had sex. He knew then what Anna had done to him and he was enraged. If it weren't for wanting to talk to Brittany first, to explain the Anna situation, he would have laid into Anna more for drugging and using him. When Jake heard her bring up spending ten thousand on a bet he felt he had more to worry about from Brittany's expression than he thought. It killed him that she wouldn't even look at him.

Gladly once Brittany's parents showed up, Anna left. Jake had walked out helping Brittany's parents carry her to his truck. She was barely able to walk as it was obvious the pain in her leg took precedence over the discovery of Anna. Jake felt guilty around her parents but he remained silent because he needed the time to talk to Brittany alone. The unsetting feeling his soul was carrying weighed more than his truck as if it were sitting on his chest. Quickly he looked around his vehicle as he couldn't be sure he looked in the back seat before he got in and wouldn't be surprised if Anna was hiding behind the seat. He was grateful that Anna had left them but he didn't feel safe from her. Just as he was about to start his truck, his phone shrilled making him jump. He wasn't ready to talk to his dad or anyone else just yet, so he ignored the call. Brittany glared at him as if he were hiding something else. One situation at a time and taking care of Brittany was his priority.
