Chapter 65- First 48

Edward explains the events that took place at Church's Chicken in detail to the officer on duty. When asked if he could describe the features of the suspect, Edward immediately pulls out his cell phone and scrolls through his photo gallery in search of several photographs that he had taken during the scene of the crime. "That's her....him.... it?" The officer takes a closer look at the picture, then backs away swiping his hand over his scruffy beard. Edward watches his reaction and then notices the ends of the man's mouth curl from a slight grin. "That's the same person we have on surveillance. I've seen her around plenty of times." The officer says before taking a look around to see who was nearby and then leaning in closer toward Edward saying in a lowered tone "Believe you me, that's a goddamn girl. Have you seen that ass?" Edward looks at the officer with a confused look as he takes another glance at the photo, then shakes his head. The officer takes out his notepad and jots down a few entries as Edward watches him with one eyebrow raised. While waiting, Edward looks over his shoulder through the glass doors toward his vehicle located in the parking lot to notice that Dana is no longer in the passenger seat. He squints his eyes to gain a closer look to ensure his eyes weren't playing tricks on him to find that indeed his car was vacant. "I do appreciate you coming fourth and providing us with this much needed information. The folks at the scene of the incident couldn't seem to answer any of the questions we've asked them and were very uncooperative, so this helps tremendously. We already put out a warrant for this individuals arrest and want to get this lady off of the streets before she causes any more problems." Edward extends his arm and shakes the officers hand saying "Thanks Officerrrr... (looks closer at his name tag)... Bob." Officer Bob pulls his card with his phone number on it from his shirt pocket and says "Give me a call if you happen to find out anything else." Edward slips the card into his shirt pocket then walks out of the double glass doors heading toward his vehicle. He takes a look around the empty parking lot, then pulls the lever of the door leading to the drivers seat to notice the engagement rings he gave Dana sitting along the dashboard. Sticking the key into the ignition, he glances around observing his leather seats to find his wallet in a different position as before and his glove compartment open. He looks inside to see if his weapon was inside the glove compartment, but comes up empty handed when reaching inside. "Fuck!" He says as he punches the steering wheel three consecutive times out of anger.

Immediately upon Edward leaving, Officer Bob is notified that he has an incoming phone call. He steps into his office and answers "Hello?" As the person spoke, he looked around to see who was nearby and draws the door shut for privacy. His informant fills him in on the details of when and where Dana and Lorenzo intend to meet tomorrow as he eagerly jots down all of the data provided in his notepad....
