Chapter 7 - Red Handed

3:01 A.M.

  In the comfort of her bed, Chastity stretches her arm out to notify Lorenzo of a sound that she had heard from another room.  Her hand feels the extreme coolness of his pillow as it takes a moment for her to realize that Lorenzo wasn't with her in the bed at all.  She turns on the lamp on her night stand and does a double take to confirm that his side was empty.

"What the...?" She says to herself as she sits along the side of the bed while slipping her house shoes on.  She puts on a robe and heads towards the hallway by slowly opening the door and taking a moment to listen to find Aiden's television blaring from his room.  She opens his room door to turn his volume down to notice Aiden sitting up in his bed wide awake.

  "Baby, what are you doing still up?"  She asks as she sits on the edge of his bed. "I couldn't sleep.  I kept hearing noises." He responds.  With a look of concern about her, she tells him "Lay down sweety, you have to get you some sleep."  As she pulls the covers over him and turns the volume of the television down.  Leaving from Aiden's room, she notices the lights on in the living room as it illuminated the passageway.  Walking down the hallway, she smells the aroma of alcohol in the air as the scent becomes stronger the closer she became.

  Upon entering the room, she notices Lorenzo asleep along the couch with an empty fifth of Gin sitting along the floor beside the couch.  One foot away from the bottle lays his cell phone as it appears that he fell asleep while in the phone.  She looks at him for a moment just to see how deep of a sleep he was in, as he slept with his mouth partially open emitting horrid sounds of snoring throughout the neighborhood.

  She eases her way beside the couch to grab his cell phone as she continuously watches to see if he wakes.  Even though he is unaware that she knows his password, she unlocks his phone and quickly reviews his call history to see nothing out of the ordinary.  She then closes it out to review his text messages, to see nothing out of the ordinary with that as well while she continuously glances over to see if he is watching her.

  After searching his entire phone, she was unable to find any dirt on Lorenzo and thought that maybe she was just overreacting.  She carefully places the phone back down as she watches him with extreme caution during the process.  After laying the phone down, she slowly backs away easing her way back to the bedroom.

  She turns around once she arrives in the hallway as she quickly makes her way toward to bed.  Midway down the hallway, she hears his phone ringing causing her to suddenly pause.  She leans back a little to listen in on the conversation, buy has a difficult time hearing what is being said after his initial "Hello." Walking backwards at a slight, she is unable to hear any of this.

  She grows frustrated as she suddenly decides to storm in the room and demand to know who it was on the other end of the phone.  She felt like a Spartan the way she marched in his direction.  Her speed increased at a rate unimaginable as she finally arrives beside him, swiftly snatching the phone from his ear.  His eyes grow wide as he sees her put the phone against her ear, then turn away while looking at him in slow motion to ask of the other person..... "Identify yourself, biiiiiiiiiiitch!"

He can't believe what he is seeing as she waits angrily for the voice on the other end to respond, only to notice silence.  "Identify yourself Miss (while looking at the caller ID) 555-090-7756...". She taunts the stranger.  Still no response as she hears a voice "Chastity, calm down.....It's me Jay." She gives an extended pause as her heart drops to her stomach.  She was for certain that it was a female on the other end of the phone, but to her surprise, it was Lorenzo's best friend from high school.

  She hands Lorenzo the phone and kisses him on the forehead as a sort of apology for her insecure ways, before making her way back towards the bedroom.  Lorenzo watches her leave as she walks the walk of shame as she made a complete fool of herself.  Lorenzo, put the phone against his ear, then tells Jay "Sorry about that bro..."

She can't believe the level of humiliation that she feels as her feelings has her wanting to crawl underneath her covers of her bed and die.  She closes the bedroom door and hides beneath the blankets in shame.

Aiden lays awake still listening to the entire scenario as he hears his father say "Okay sweetheart, have a good night.  I love you....."
