Chapter 64 - Knock Knock

Lorenzo and Aiden finally arrive home from McDonalds and get settled in as Aiden sports his green Teenage Ninja Mutant Turtle pajamas and takes a glance at the clock on the wall noticing how close it is to his bedtime. In an attempt to stall his dad from making him go to bed, he asks "Hey dad, I have a joke. Wanna hear it?" Lorenzo knows what Aiden is doing, but allows him to tell the joke anyways. "Okay son, give it to me." Aiden cracks his little knuckles, clears his throat and says "What does a robot frog say?" Lorenzo shrugs his shoulders and says "I don't know son. What does a robot frog say? " "Rib-bot (In his best robot voice)." Lorenzo smiles then tells Aiden "Good one. Okay, now it time for you to get ready for be--." Lorenzo's sentence is cut short by Aiden asking "Hey dad! Wanna hear another one?" Lorenzo sighs as he says "Okay, one more then that's it." Aiden cracks his knuckles, then clears his voice once again as Lorenzo's phone interrupts the joke by chiming from an incoming message. Aiden waits as his dad pulls the phone from his pocket. Lorenzo sees how anxious Aiden is to tell the joke as he checks his messages while saying "Go ahead. I'm listening." Aiden's eyes light up as he asks " Knock, knock." Lorenzo gives a delayed response as he slowly asks "Who's there?" While trying his best to figure out what the picture was that Dana sent to his phone. "Tank." Aiden says without gaining an immediate response. Lorenzo turns his phone sideways trying his best to decipher what the picture was that was sent. "I SAID TANK!' Aiden belts as he immediately regains his dad's attention with Lorenzo responding with "Tank who?" Aiden jumps up with his arms open shouting "You're welcome!" Lorenzo looks at him with a straight face and says "Okay, now it's time to take your corny little butt to bed." Aiden provides his usual sad face as he walks away slowly while Lorenzo continues to stare at his phone with a confused look. He cannot figure out for the life of him what this picture could be. Aiden silently sneaks back around and peeks over his shoulder to see exactly what is on the phone has his dad so enthralled then makes his own little attempt to figure it out himself. Both of them simultaneously scratch their head as they tilt their head to the side slightly upon coming to the realization of what they were viewing. Their eyes widen as they shout "Oh shit!" in a synchronized fashion as Lorenzo turns around quickly facing Aiden yelling "If you don't take your black ass to bed!" Aiden runs off as Lorenzo hits the button on the side of the phone to turn the screensaver on. He thinks to himself "Dafuq?" as he waits for Aiden's light to go off in his bedroom before looking at the picture once again. Lorenzo stares at the picture thinking "Why would she send me this?" Suddenly, he receives an incoming text from Dana that read:

I apologize for that. It was sent from that asshole out of spite because he read our texts. He just ran to the police to tell them everything like a snitch and I'm sure they are looking for me as well. He's such a bitch, but it's cool...I just drained his bank account completely. Fuck him. I'm sitting on his seven figures right now which I believe makes us even wouldn't you say? Lmao, you know me. Anyway, I'm flying out of the state tomorrow before he figures it all out and I really would like to spend a few hours with you to say my last goodbyes. Plus I want to hit you and lil' man with some of this money. I hope you have the time?

Edward gets an uneasy feeling at the pit of his stomach as he reads her text over and over. He really doesn't want to get involved, but figures that he could at least see her once more before she leaves. He tries to overcome his slight feeling of jealousy from the photograph of her and Edward and responds by texting:

Damn D, you're something else. I guess we can just meet downtown. It'll be a crowd so we could just get ice cream and walk around if you'd like. Nobody will even notice us.

Dana responds with:

It's a date. My flight leaves at 11, so we'll have to get an early start. How does 9:30 sound?

Edward delays his response to Dana after he hears the sounds of toys clinking from Aiden's room. "Aiden, if you don't take your ass to sleep!" Immediately, he hears Aiden hopping back into the bed as he shoots a quick text that read:

9:30 sounds good. I'll meet you at the parking meters by Henry's.

Lorenzo immediately goes to his closet to select out an outfit for their date before calling it a night. He notices that Dana never replied back.

Meanwhile, Jamie's phone alerts her of an incoming text message while she makes her way up the stairs to her apartment. She grabs her phone from her purse saying "What is it now Phillip?" Pausing in her tracks, she sees that Lorenzo inadvertently texted her the message intended for Dana that read "9:30 sounds good. I'll meet you at the parking meters by Henry's." Jamie smiles as she says to herself "It's a date."
