I would like to say now before you start to read, that this book is no where near the cliche ending that your thinking/expecting...

Read it to find out what I'm saying...😈

"Ashlyyy!"

I hear my name being called from across the street. When I look to see who it is, I see my best friend Sophia calling me from the café we're supposed to meet at. I briskly walk across the street.

"Omg, hey," I say while hugging her.

We separate. "How's it going? All moved in yet?" she asks while leading me to the table she saved for us.

"Yeah, just finished yesterday. How is the dog doing?" I ask.

"Oh, Coco is great. She loves the new big bed I got her last week," she tells me, giggling.

"That's great to hear. I'm so bored in my new apartment. It's so quiet I can hear the neighbors' conversations about their son, who they believe is on drugs, and how the husband needs ointment for his foot rash. Oh God, does it get embarrassing with them." It really did. One time I thought they were having sex one night.

"Oh!" she practically yells. "You should get a dog," she encourages.

"A dog?" I question her.

"Yaaasss, that would be great! Then them and Coco can be best friends. Oh, it's perfect!" she says, clapping her hands together.

Maybe that would be a great idea. I do love Coco, so why not get one of my own, you know? "Okay, I'll do it. I'll go get a dog. But where, though?" I ask her.

"You go to the shelter down the street, silly. It's right there." She points to a gray building that I thought was a prison for the longest time because of the barbed wire fences and gray exterior.

"Okay, I'll head over tomorrow and get one," I say, and with that we sit and eat at the café for an hour until Sophia has to get home to walk Coco.

I walk into my apartment and set my purse and leftovers on the counter before putting my keys on the rack next to the door. I put the leftovers away and walk over to my purse to grab my phone. I pull up the animal shelter's website to get some insight on the dogs they have. There are plenty and a variety of them there.

I keep scrolling until I stop on a picture of a dog in its cage. The dog doesn't look like a dog, though. It looks like a wolf-dog. I click on the file and read the details.

I then close the page and decide on making my judgment tomorrow in person. I quickly make myself dinner, go on the couch, and turn on any free movie I can find. About halfway through the movie, I think I pass out, sleeping there for the night...
