"Hello and welcome," a young girl behind the desk said to me.

"Hello," I smiled back.

I then walked over to the dishes and grabbed two, then got the biggest dog bed I could find and grabbed a bag of dog food. After that, I picked out a cool black collar and chain leash for Wolf. Then I brought it all up to the counter and paid. I grabbed all the bags and headed home.

On the walk, Wolf didn't "go" once. "I'll have to take you out later then," I said as I put the keys in the door.

I opened the door and let go of Wolf's leash. He ran inside, exploring my tiny apartment. It didn't take him that long to finish. I set the bags on the floor, shut the door, and got out Wolf's new collar.

"Wolf, come here, boy." I patted my knees, calling him.

He just looked at me from the living room and cocked his head.

"Come here, Wolf," I called again, but still got nothing from him except his confused face.

"Come on, I got a surprise for you!" I said, which made him jump up and run to me. "There we go," I said as he ran over.

When he got to me, I unhooked the old collar and put the new one on him. He just lay down, scratching at it and whining. I loosened the collar a lot but never took it off him. He looked up at me, pleading for me to take it off.

"You need to keep it on," I said.

He then went into the living room and huffed on the couch.

"What's up with you?" I asked, putting my hands on my hips.

He just peeked over the couch and huffed back down.

"Well, fine then," I said, throwing my hands in the air.

I picked up the other bags and put them in the kitchen. I filled one bowl up with ice water and the other with dog food. I then set them down away from where I would walk a lot.

"Wolf? Come here." I waited, and he didn't come. "Wolf, come on, I got some food," I sang, which made him come running.

When Wolf got up to the bowl, he just looked at it and then back at me.

"What? It's really good dog food. Trust me, you'll like it," I said, petting him.

I stood back up and got his dog bed out of the bag and set it in the living room. But when I went back to the kitchen, Wolf was just staring at his dish.

"What? Did you not like it?" I asked.

Wow, I really am going crazy—talking to my dog-wolf and thinking he understands me. That's pretty weird.

Wolf just huffed and drank some water. I went to the fridge and got out some food to make a chicken salad. I set the chicken on the counter and went back to the fridge to get the lettuce, but when I looked on the counter, the chicken was gone. I looked around, and Wolf was gone too.

"Now who stole my chicken?" I yelled.

Wolf slowly came back with the bones in his mouth and set them down in front of me. He then whined.

"Aww, at least now I know what you like to eat." He looked back up at me and started panting.

"Okay," I said, standing back up. "Guess it's just normal salad for me."

I started chopping up the cucumbers when I felt something fuzzy on my feet. I looked down to see Wolf sleeping on them.

"Aww," I said as I continued to cut the rest of the ingredients.

About ten minutes later, I was throwing it all in a bowl and mixing it up. All I needed was the dressing—but how was I going to get it with Wolf on my feet? I started to reach over to the fridge but couldn't reach. I then tried to ease my feet out from under him, but he started to growl at me. He looked up at me.

"Um, I need to move, please," I said, pointing to the fridge.

He just huffed and lay back down.

"Um, now, please," I said, moving my foot away from him.

It scared him and caused him to bite my other leg, which started bleeding. Wolf got really scared and ran away while I fell to the floor on my butt.

I winced in pain when Wolf came back with the first aid kit I had... in my medicine cabinet... above my sink... Wait, what?

"Thanks," I said, taking it from him.

I looked at him skeptically, and he just licked the bloody bite on my leg.

"But... what... how did—" I said, still in shock.

Wolf just nudged the kit and lay next to me. I snapped out of it and wrapped my leg up. The whole time, he was whining. Once I was done, I picked myself up, with Wolf trying to help me.

"I bet you were a service dog or something. But I still don't know how you got that from so high up."

Wolf just shook his head and walked into the living room and lay on his bed.

"Okay, just walk away from me!" I yelled as he walked out.

I got the dressing from the fridge and walked over to the couch with my phone, the salad, and a fork. When I passed by Wolf, he just whined.

"I'm fine. You don't have to worry," I said, lying down on the couch.

I opened my phone while shoving salad in my mouth and started texting Sophia a picture of Wolf. I peeked up to see Wolf still lying down, and I quickly snapped a picture of him. She said she would bring over Coco tomorrow to meet him and said she was really excited.

I looked back over to Wolf, who was staring at me with silver, glazed-over eyes.

I choked on my salad a little and looked again. Wolf's eyes turned back to brown.

"Omg," I coughed. "What was that?!"

I threw my phone on the couch and set my bowl down, moving closer to him.

"Geez, you are one weird dog," I said, leaning closer to him.

Wolf just cocked his head at me and then lay back down, curling into a ball...
