Jasper
I ran through the woods, stopping at the ruins of a small stone statue of an angel. I shifted back into human form and put on the shirt and pants that were left for me. It was starting to rain lightly when I looked up and saw Jared come from behind the statue.
"I came. What do you want?" I said, trying to keep my voice steady.
Jared stepped in front of me, his hands behind his back, a smug smile on his face. "I know the real reason why Ashley figured out about werewolves," he told me, starting to walk circles around me. "Sleeping with her... naked. Who knew you were such a pervert?"
I tried to keep my eyes on him as he walked around me. "It was an accident. Nothing happened," I said.
He shook his head. "But something did happen. You bit her." He got close to my face for a moment before stepping back and walking around me again. "You hurt her and caused her to get kidnapped. What would your brother think if he wakes up?" He stopped in front of me.
"My brother would be furious, which is why I was never planning on telling him!" I told Jared.
Jared turned around and started walking over to the broken statue. He leaned on it with one hand. "You might not, but others might," he said before disappearing behind the statue.
"Damn," I muttered to myself, kicking a rock. I turned around and started walking back to the house as the rain began to come down harder.
Ashley
I was woken up by a soft knock on my door. I opened my eyes and looked around. No one but me in the room. The soft knock came again, and I got up to go answer it. I stepped over to the door, my tired eyes ready to close again, and I opened the door.
It was Javiare. He was wearing a black shirt and jeans. "I'm here to take you to breakfast," he said.
"Oh, okay. Let me get some clothes on," I said, shutting the door.
I ran over to the closet and put on a t-shirt with a pair of shorts. I sprinted over to the bathroom and untied my braids, my hair now wavy and curly from sleeping. I quickly ran a brush through it to even it out. I ran over to the door and opened it to see Javiare leaning against the wall, looking down the hall.
"What are you looking at?" I asked.
Javiare jumped and looked at me, standing up straight. "Oh, no. I was just thinking. Do you want to head down?" he asked, shoving his hands in his pockets.
I shut the door behind me. "Yeah, okay," I said before walking down the hall.
We walked in silence the whole way to the dining hall. Everyone was already seated and waiting for me. I hoped they hadn't been waiting too long. I quickly walked over to the buffet table and picked out my food, quickly sitting in my place with Jasper on my right and an empty seat on my left. Jasper didn't look at me when I sat down at all. I threw a piece of bacon in my mouth and savored the flavors as everyone else started getting up and going to the buffet table.
I looked over and saw Sophia walking back with a plate full of eggs, sausage, and bacon. She smiled and waved as she sat down next to Jasper. I finished the rest of the food on my plate and got up. I walked over to the basket and set my dish down.
I looked back over and saw Sophia running over with her plate. Once she got close, she wrapped her arm in mine. "You ready for girls' day?" she asked, sitting the plate in the basket.
I nodded. "Yeah. Maybe the witch can do some magic trick or something," I told her.
We started walking out of the hall when Javiare came up and followed us.
"I wonder what other kinds of magical creatures are real?" Sophia asked.
"Same. Maybe there are vampires," I told her, making an evil face.
Javiare opened the front door for us. "I can confirm there are vampires," he said.
Sophia and I just looked at each other, shocked. "Twilight?" we both said at the same time.
We then started laughing uncontrollably as Jasper shook his head, laughing too, leading us to the shops. There were tons of things there—from food to jewelry to just random stuff. He took us past all of the shops all the way to the end of the street. We started to see a large carriage. It looked like someone had put a house on top of a carriage and kept adding to it: there were lights, beads, dreamcatchers, and lots of jars with weird stuff in them.
We stepped up to the carriage and saw a table with a deck of cards and different crystals all laid out.
"Hello?" I called out.
I heard a woman jump from inside the carriage, and a few things fell. "Just a moment, please," she called back. "Damn pans won't stay up," I heard her muttering to herself. "Now, where are those frog feet?" I heard her ramble.
I looked over at Sophia, wide-eyed. We both started to giggle a little. Then we heard a loud, "Ahhh! There they are!" coming from inside the carriage.
A young blond woman appeared. "Hello, my name is Christine. If you would like to take a seat, make yourself at home," she said, gesturing to the table, which had four chairs now around it. "I'll make some tea," she said, disappearing back into the carriage.
We sat down around the table, hearing sounds of pots and glass being roughly used from inside. Christine came out with a teapot and four mismatched cups all laid out on a tray.
"Sorry the cups don't match. I broke all the matching sets," she said, handing each of us a cup.
She then poured the tea into our cups, steam rising. She looked around at all of us, squinting her eyes. When they went wide again, she grabbed the sugar bowl. "You like three scoops," she said to Sophia. "You like two," she said to me. Then she looked over to Javiare. "And you don't like any?" she said, waiting for approval.
I sat there, wide-eyed. "Yes! Did you use magic to find that out?" I asked.
Christine walked over to us and gave us our sugar. "Sort of. I can see your aura and stuff, so I can sense these things," she told us, sitting down.
"So, what brings you three here? Would you like a reading?" she asked, shuffling the cards in front of her.
Sophia leaned forward. "Oh, I want a reading," she said eagerly.
Christine smiled and handed her the cards. "Now I want you to cut the deck into thirds and lay them out for me." Sophia did as she was told, splitting the deck. Christine nodded. "Okay. Now let's see what your reading is." She flipped and placed cards in a certain pattern. She grabbed one more card and placed it on top of another. Once she saw the card, she modified it.
"Oh my god," she said, covering her mouth with her hand in shock.
We all leaned in closer to look at the card...
