Sophia
I walked around the pack for a while and saw a lot of people. I asked around, and someone told me that Javiare's house was on this street. I looked around, and all the houses mostly looked the same, except for the color. The person told me his house was dark blue, so I looked to my left, and at the end of the street, I saw a small house with a small front yard and a tiny porch with a swing. The house had white accents that went with the dark midnight blue. It seemed like an odd color choice, but it looked really good. I walked up the narrow cobblestone path and onto the porch. There wasn't anything specific on the outside; most houses had flowers, statues, and such, but Javiare, I guess, didn't like any of that kind of stuff.
I knocked on his dark wood door with a golden doorknob. I heard a muffled voice on the other side before I heard a bunch of locks being unlocked. It sounded as if he had a hundred locks on one door. Once the locks were finished, the door slid open, revealing Javiare standing there in shorts and no shirt. His hair was wet, like he had just taken a shower.
"Hey, Sophia, what's up?" he said breathlessly.
I stared at his chest and then back at his face. "Oh, uh, um... did I bother you while you were in the shower?" I asked.
Javiare stepped out of the way. "No, not at all. I just got out," he said. "Come in, please."
I stepped inside and looked around. To my left, there was a small dining room with a table for four and no specific decorations. To my right was a kitchen, with stainless steel and wood countertops, and in front of me was a small living room with a static case. The living room only had a couch and a TV, while I guessed the upstairs was the bedroom. Javiare closed the door behind me and walked into the kitchen.
"Do you want some water or tea?" he asked.
I shook my head, still looking around. "No, thank you, I'm fine," I told him, walking over to the stairs and peering up.
"So, did you want to talk about something?" he asked.
I followed him over to the couch and sat down next to him. "Kinda. It's a really weird question, though," I told him.
"Well, I hope I have a weird answer to match," he said.
"This is all hypothetical, really, but if you captured a rogue, where would you keep it?" I asked.
He thought for a moment. "Well, we have the basement, where we would keep them for interrogation," he told me. "Or, we wouldn't and just kill them anyway."
Maybe that's where Jared is keeping Roman. I want to see his pitiful face and just hope he's not keeping Ashley there.
"Oh, okay, thanks. So, about the whole Jared thing, what do you think about it?" I asked.
He shook his head. "I don't know. I mean, it's how it goes. The rules are rules, and he's Alpha now. No matter what I think, nothing can change that. But it still doesn't sit right with me," he explained.
I nodded. "I understand, but from what I saw, Jared looks like he could handle it."
"But remember what I said," he said. "No one knows the Alpha's position until you're in it yourself. He's going to be surprised, because he's going to respect one thing and get another."
"How do you know so much about the Alpha position?" I asked, furrowing my brows.
He looked at the floor and rested his elbows on his knees. "I've had experience for a while, back when Roman's father was Alpha, and we were young. Roman and I were really good friends, and when he was training to be Alpha, he dragged me along with him. Then, when his father died, Roman would always come to me and tell me about how it is to be Alpha, how stressful it is. But he said he loved it. He loved working with people, helping them, taking care of them. He's always wanted a family. So I guess he found one, so he didn't need us to fill the void," he told me.
He looked back up. "So, how did you know where I lived?" he asked.
"Oh, uh, um, I asked someone, and they told me it was here," I said quickly.
He nodded his head. "So you came here right after breakfast, or did you go somewhere?"
"Oh, no, I needed to talk to Jared about Ashley and stuff. I then wanted to come and talk with you, and here we are now."
He nodded his head. "Sounds like you've had a busy morning," he said, leaning back on the couch.
"Oh, yeah, I need to go shower and stuff. I'll probably be back later. We can hang out, and maybe you and I can go visit Christine and tell her the news," I said, getting up.
Javiare got up too. "Oh, no, no. You can shower here if you want. I can give you my cousin's extra clothes to wear," he offered. "It's a lot to walk all the way back to the pack house and then come back here. Christine's just down the block from here. So why not just shower here?" he said, putting his hands in his pockets.
I thought for a moment. Yeah, I guess I can. It is a far walk back to the pack house, and my legs are sore. "Yeah, okay," I said.
Javiare smiled and started walking over to the stairs. "The shower is upstairs, this way," he directed me.
I looked around. He had two bedrooms and two bathrooms. "My room is right over there, but when my cousin comes to visit, she uses this room. There are clothes in that closet over there, and the shower is in here," he pointed at each. "If you need anything, just holler. I'll be downstairs," he told me.
I nodded. "Thanks," I said before he shut the door and left.
I walked into the bathroom, took off my gross, sweaty clothes, turned on the hot water, and got in. Once I got out of the shower, I wrapped a towel around me, stepped out into the bedroom, and walked over to the closet. The closet had a small amount of clothes, but I didn't mind. I grabbed one of the dresses off the hanger and put it on. The dress was light pink with a vibrant bow around the waist. It went down to my knees, and it covered my shoulders. I walked downstairs and saw Javiare watching TV, finally with a shirt on. He again had a black shirt and jeans. He stood up once he noticed me.
"Hey," he said as I stepped down the stairs.
"Hey," I said.
"Ready to go?" he asked.
I nodded my head. "Yup."
And we walked over to Christine's wagon...
