DOMINICK'S POV

  After being late to pick Katie up from practice almost every time, I should not be surprised that I'd be late for her game. However, I still can't believe the game started almost thirty-minutes ago, and I still have yet to drop Mollie off at Aria's apartment. The apartment complex is about twenty minutes from where Katie's game is at.

"I do not want to hear from Aunt Aria that you were disrespectful or acting ugly." I say to Mollie. "Listen and obey."

"Yes daddy." Mollie replies. She's been behaving a bit better since the broccoli incident. Although, any non-destructive behavior would seem better. She is still hard-headed, moody, and has her moments. I remind myself of Tyde's words, that Mollie is simply being a toddler.

When we reach Aria's apartment, I quickly grab Mollie's bag and unbuckle her from her car seat. "You're going to have so much fun." I say walking her up to the front door. She excitedly runs up and rings the doorbell. Aria doesn't take long to answer the door, her short dyed-blonde hair is pulled back with a red headband. She is wearing a gray t-shirt and a pair of blue shorts. She squats down to be eye-level with Mollie, she smiles and pulls Mollie into a hug. Mollie giggles happily as she returns the hug.

"Her pajamas and clothes for tomorrow are in her backpack along with a few pull-ups. You know the drill, if you need anything call Tyde or myself." I say setting Mollie's bag down in Aria's apartment by the front door. Mollie pulls away from the hug with Aria and looks up at me. I lean down and give her a quick kiss on top of the head. "I love you, be good. I'll call you before you go to bed." I say.

Mollie nods her head and smiles at me before running inside Aria's apartment. "Thank you again, Aria." I say to Aria as she stands up.

"No problem, i'll take any time I can get with her." She replies.

"Remember, call Tyde or me for anything." I say as I start walking off.

"Have a good evening. See you tomorrow." Aria says. I hear her front door shut.

~~~~~~~~~~
I managed to catch the last ten minutes of the game. I count that as a success since Katie didn't have to wait on me to pick her up. I drop her off at the house and quickly hurry back to my place to get ready to Tyde's mother's house for dinner. Tyde's mother and step-dad recently bought a new house; and Tyde's mother has been trying to get us to come over for weeks but schedules never worked. Until now. Much to Tyde's dismay.
Tyde's relationship with her mother is distant and tense. Tyde's mother is very blunt with criticizing, trying to control, and change Tyde; and Tyde does not hide some of the resentment she feels towards her mother. Tyde still holds her mother's past bad choices in the area of relationships against her.
In short, Tyde's mother had a tendency to rush into relationships, dragging Tyde along. Tyde's mother got involved with various types of men; losers, snobs, upper-class men, musicians, creeps, drunkards, and others. Every man Tyde's mother got involved with, Tyde would be exposed. One of the men Tyde's mother got into a relationship with, and later married, was Linkon's father. After the two were married, Linkon's father adopted Tyde. The marriage lasted two years before ending with Tyde's mother packing everything of hers into a car and leaving. She was gone for a couple years, leaving Tyde's with Linkon and his father.
When Tyde's mother returned, she was married to Harris, Tyde's current step-dad, and expecting the first of Tyde's half brothers.
"Why couldn't we have used tonight for a date-night?" Tyde groans as she finishes applying her lipstick.
"It's one evening, one evening and then we're off the hook for at least a month." I remind her as I put on my socks. "Besides, don't you want to see your brothers?" I ask.
Tyde lets out a sigh, "You're right." She says. She walks into the doorway of our bedroom, "How do I look?" She asks.
"Sensational." I reply.
She nods her head and turns around, "Let me spray on some perfume and then we can go." She says.
"Sounds good." I say. I reach over and grab my shoes. "Should I also grab a shield, in case a battle breaks out?"
Tyde lets out a short laugh in response. "Hilarious." She replies dryly.
