Laws of Nature

I listened to the Master

As I sat there on my chair;

My eyes dull and lackluster,

I hear with growing despair.

He'd talked of laws of nature

And I'd found them all so true.

I'd thought about departure,

Knowing there's none I can do.

Sitting there, I nursed the thought

Of what the 'law' foreshadows.

It was knowledge that I sought:

"Is there truth in all these laws?"

The law of gravitation

Where the bigger ones prevail?

"Only wealth can bring attention!"

Hear the meek, what they bewail!

The law of interaction

Where an eye is for an eye?

It states that absolution

Can't mar sins that herein lie.

As I thought, it came to me

That all nature's laws ring true.

My query then, it came to be:

"Do I fight or take my due?"

For I can either benefit,

Having learned of nature's ways,

Or take the damage from it;

To defy with a bold face.

The Master soon observed me

Sitting with a clouded brow.

He asked what made me dreary,

What was it that vexed me so?

Hoping to be gratified,

I told of all my troubles.

That with the 'laws' I can't bide..

This point He'd proven false.

He smiled and told me plainly

The things that I failed to see.

He told me to judge justly

These things that were taught to me:

"No change can ever happen,

If no one learns from data;

Dear daughter, don't be sullen.

It's the law of inertia."
