Poem 23 - Bound

Bound

She heard the clink that the coin made

As it fell down the wishing well.

She watched a star shoot down and fade

And hoped for a story to tell.

She made a wish, as they told her to;

She did all things  to get her love.

She did all that they bid her do;

Beseeching the heavens above.

But the still waters of the well

Started to tremble and tremor;

And the calm night begins to quell

And lose all its pretty color.

     How unfair

     The world was

     To this girl with windblown hair.

     All she had

     Was put at stake

     And all the beliefs

     That they made her adopt

     Left damage in their wake,

     Because none of them were true

     And she did all that she could do.

So now she stands, her clothing drenched;

Her dear wish by no means granted.

Her innocence, from her, was wrenched...

Away!

There's nothing more to say!

She lost all she had and wanted.

Nothing was found,

And here she lies:

Weeping and bound.
