Micheal's POV

The day went slow till 5 o' clock.

I finished with my last meeting and returned to the office.
There, I noticed that Cassie was busy typing on the PC.

I walked past her and straight to the glass wall.

Grey clouds covered the sky.
I couldn't feel anything inside the office but I only wondered how humid was it outside.

Then I turned and went to my table.
I pulled the big black chair and made myself comfortable.

"How was the day, Cassie?" I asked.

"Oh! it was good. I enjoyed it, Rick is very helpful." she smiled and answered.

"Nice. I hope you get adjusted, soon enough. Becky will be coming at 6, and she will brief you with everything." I said.

"You miss her. Right?" she said narrowing her eyes.

"Nah!" I said.

"You do. Both of you make a lovely couple." she said.

I blushed and said "Thank You."

"It feels so good when the day gets over. No more silly meetings." I said, trying to change the topic.

"Micheal, I almost forgot to tell you. There is one last meeting at 5:30" she said.

"Alright, I was wrong then"
I glanced at the clock 5:10.

I got up and asked "I should better get going, who is it?"

She took her diary and turned the pages.

"Derek Lambert." she said.

Those words were a thunderclap for me.

DEREK? Seriously.

"Who?" I asked to confirm.

"Derek Lambert" she repeated.

"The one from Angeles?" I asked.

She nodded.

"Why didn't you ask me before giving time to him?" I barked at her.

I was mad. Becky would be here at 6 and if she sees Derek... she will definitely take me wrong.

"You didn't say that I had to ask." she said in a low voice.

I tried to calm myself.

"I am sorry." I said and left the cabin as soon as I can.

I tapped on the keypad and called Becky.

She didn't pick.

I called again.

Please pick up!

Then I heard "Hey, I was just about to get ready. I do remember."

"No, I wanted to say that you should not come." I said trying to keep my voice normal.

"Why?" she asked.

"Because...any moment, it may start raining and you will get late. You know traffic." he said.

"Well, if I hurry, I will be able to reach there before the rain starts and then we will take our time to return" she said.

Think Micheal think.

"Umm.... Cassie left." I said.

"What? You did tell her that I was going to come, right?" Becky said.

"Yeah! but since the climate didn't look good, I sent her home." I said.

"Okay. I will find some time for tomorrow morning." she said.

Yes, finally.

"Great honey. By the way I have some very important work right now. I'll be home soon" I said.

"Bye. Love you." she said and hung up.

I kept the phone in my inner pocket and thought what to do next.

I felt so guilty for lying to Becky.

Should I go alone to or take Cassie with me?

I should better go alone. I can't let her get a hint of what happened ages ago.

Though I will try my best to avoid that topic but Becky is my wife and I just can't resist myself to speak on her behalf. And if he says something wrong, no one is there to stop me.

I walked slowly to the conference room.

Then through the glass, I saw that Derek sitting near the chair on which I was supposed to sit.

Why was he here? What were his intentions?
Questions kept storming my mind as I saw him through the glass.

I was well aware of his company, THE LAMERT AND CO but he wasn't here for business purpose.
I can bet on that.

His back was facing me so he didn't see me standing there.

He was wearing a black coat. There was a briefcase on the floor near his feet and he was busy reading a file.
From behind, his physique looked the same as it did back then.

As for me, I did grow a little fat as I am not able to go to a gym, regularly.
Well, but no one would be able to tell the difference except Becky.

I went back to my room and said "Cassie, you can go home, anytime now. Becky will be here tomorrow. "

"Thank you boss" she said and got up to pack her stuff.

I then rushed to find Rick.

He was in his room. I had provided him with a small cabin.

"Rick, I want you to come with me." I said and stepped out.

He followed me.

I took him near the conference room and then not getting too close, I stopped and so did Rick.

"Listen carefully. This guy here is a rival of mine...those are some private reasons. But yes, I am going to have a meeting with him and I want you to roam in this corridor. Like take a round in every five minutes. Because if I find a need of someone's presence in the room, I will catch you. And if I call you on the mobile then you should come in straight with the security."

"Are you okay boss? I mean you never act like that. If you want I can send the guy back." said a sympathetic Rick.

"No I am fine. I can handle it, just stay close. Will you?"

"Of course I will be around till the meet gets over" said Rick.

"Cool. Now go" I said and he disappeared in the corridor.

So I cleared my throat, glanced at my attire before walking to the door.
Then I flung it open and stepped in.

On hearing the sound, Derek turned his neck towards me and got up.

I walked in and he smiled.
Then, he pulled out his hand and said "How are you Micheal? Long time, no see."
