As soon as Natsu walked into the music room where Instrumentals was being held, his onyx eyes instantly landed on a certain blonde sitting near the others towards the back.

He grinned slightly and waved as soon as he caught her attention.

She flashed a small smile his way before turning to Gray and talking to him about something.

Natsu hurriedly made his way over to them and slid into the seat next to the raven-haired boy, hearing part of their conversation briefly.

"So it could be any song?" Lucy asked.

Gray nodded. "Whatever you think will get you to be one of the singers for the dance."

The blonde furrowed her eyebrows, seeming to be deep in thought. Natsu chuckled. "You're taking the auditions seriously?"

Lucy looked at him curiously. "And you're not?"

Gray scoffed. "Ignore him. Flame Brain has gotten a spot every dance. It practically boosts his already big ego more than it needs to be."

The pink haired boy shrugged. "Well sorry if I'm actually good at singing."

The raven haired boy glared at Natsu in annoyance. "Shut up."

Natsu smirked. "You know I'm right, Elsa."

"Why you little--" Gray had lunged forward at the pink haired boy, only to be held by the collar by Gajeel.

"Save your fighting for after class, Fullbuster. The teacher is staring," He grumbled lowly.

The raven haired boy huffed in frustration before fixing his shirt and leaning back in his seat. He kicked Natsu's seat in the process, earning a small glare from the pink haired boy before both of them payed their attention to the teacher.

"Alright guys. I want you all to compose an original song for the next couple of classes. By the end of the week, you'll start performing them in front of the class. You may work with a partner if needed."

As soon as the teacher finished speaking, students split off either in their own or in a small group. Natsu watched as Gray and Juvia headed out of the classroom together, probably heading to one of the sound booths down in the other hallway.

Levy and Gajeel decided to pair up and worked towards the back of the room. Gray and Juvia had decided to be partners for the assignment, along with Jellal and Erza. Lisanna had been asked to work with a student named Bickslow.

Everyone had split off and worked in different areas. Lucy had turned to Natsu, as if to silently ask to work together.

The pink haired boy nodded, and the two headed over to the piano in the front of the room.

"So what...mood, are we going for, exactly?" The blonde stretched her hands together, pushing her fingers outwards. She pressed a couple of keys, randomly playing a short tune that came to mind.

Natsu stared at her, a thought crossing his mind. "I think I have something." The boy walked over to his seat where his guitar case had been laid out. He grabbed some music sheets that were tucked in it and walked back over to Lucy, placing them in front of her. "I came up with this a long time ago...but I think it'll sound a lot better if you sang it."
