"I..." Lucy glanced his eyes, only to back away from Natsu and up against the wall. She wiped her eyes with the back of her hand, unable to form any words. A feeling washed over her. Something she hadn't felt in a long time.

Fear. But what she feared had left her confused and not knowing how to act.

Love. It was a new concept to her. Sure, Lucy had her whole family until she was eight, but what her father did to her and what happened to her little sister overwhelmed those memories completely. Her love was replaced with hurt, and as she grew, it never occurred to her that she would ever find love. Let alone know what it is.

And it made her afraid.

"I..." Lucy began again, only to be interrupted by the bell, signaling Lunch was over. "I should...get going. I-I promised Mira I'd help her out with the auditions today..."

The blonde hurriedly walked towards the doors connecting the courtyard and the hallway. She snuck a glance over her shoulder at the pink haired boy before stepping inside, trying her best not to let her tears slip out.

Natsu smashed his fist against the wall, ignoring the slight pain that followed soon after. He sighed leaning against the wall and sliding down until he sat on the floor. He put his head in his hands.

His head snapped up, an idea slithering into his mind. He stood up, clenching his fists as he left the courtyard, heading towards the auditorium.

Natsu was the first one to have to sing, and he was going to make it mean something. If not for him, than for a particular blonde beauty.

"Start when you're ready, Natsu," Mirajane nodded. She had taken the seat in the first row in the very middle, holding a clipboard with a copy of the roster on it. Lucy had taken the seat next to her, holding a clipboard to write whether or not Mira thought they were good enough to get a spot for the dance.

Lucy willed herself to look up from the clipboard and at Natsu. She instantly let her eyes fall as soon as the two made eye contact.

The boy sighed, sitting himself down at the piano placed close to the stage. His right side was faced towards the audience, with a microphone propped on his left. He looked down at the keys. It was weird, but for once, he actually hoped his audition would be great.
