Chapter Twenty-Seven: Forget

"So FTPA is a music school...that explains what Levy was saying about auditions, or whatever," Lucy mumbled. "Why exactly would I choose to go to a performing arts school? I don't think I'm skilled in anything remotely related to music."

Natsu chuckled. "Trust me when I say you were one of the best at this school. You didn't believe it yourself, but it was pretty obvious."

"I must've been special," Lucy said jokingly.

"Yeah..." He said with a small smile.

The smile slightly faded from her lips as she looked at him. "Hey Natsu?"

"Hm?" He mumbled, keeping his eyes on his guitar as he plucked the strings.

"I asked Levy what happened to me...and she said to go to you."

At this, he froze, stopping his strings from vibrating. Natsu looked up at the blonde. Something in his eyes had darkened. "Oh."

Lucy pursed her lips, staring at him with her chocolate brown eyes. "Natsu."

He blinked, shaking his head slightly before looking back at his guitar.

The blonde walked over to where he was, sitting next to him in the chair beside him. She kept her eyes trained on the pink haired boy as she took in a deep breath. "Natsu...what happened to me? Or...how did this happen to me?"

He knew he couldn't avoid the question. And ignoring her wasn't exactly solving anything either. Natsu sighed and met her gaze. "You were with me."

"I gave you this flower that you loved a lot since your mom loved them too. And when we were about to..." Natsu paused before shaking his head quickly. "When we were walking outside, it was blown away in the wind. You ran to get it and I wasn't able to stop you. Next thing I know you're on the road...and...a car wasn't able to get out of the way in time."

"Oh..." Lucy said softly.

"Alright," Natsu stood from his seat, standing up and stretching. Lucy watched him curiously as he made his way towards the door. "I should get going," He glanced over his shoulder at the blonde, trying his bet to mask his pained expression. A fake smile spread across his face. "I'll see you around."

"Oh um...okay," Lucy smiled sadly as he waved before leaving the music room and closing the door behind him.

Natsu stepped away from the door and sat against the wall, right beside the music room. He let out a shaky sigh, putting his head in his hands. "Damn it."

"Natsu?"

His head snapped up, seeing the blonde right as she was closing the door. Lucy went down on her knees, sitting next to the pink haired boy. She looked at him, concern shining in her eyes. "You're not telling me everything that happened...are you?"

He sighed quietly. "We were out together. On a date. It was all my fault that this happened to you."

Lucy placed her hand on his shoulder. Natsu leaned the back of his head against the wall, his arms on his knees. He looked at her without turning his head. She had a small smile on her face. "I think you're blaming yourself too much. I'm not sure if I'll ever get my memories back, or if I'll understand what's going on."
