Chapter 2
I went home exhausted. My mind was killing me. All the thoughts that had been running through my head, ever since Rick told me what we were. It sounded partly crazy. But deep in my heart I knew he was right.
I entered our house and I came face to face with my father. His black hair was wet, which meant he had taken a shower not too long ago. He smiled softly at me. "How was school, Iz?" He asked me while he was eating a chocolate muffin.
That's what got me awake from my tired trance. He was eating MY muffin. My chocolate muffin. "Dad!" I shrieked.
He looked alert, surprised. His whole body tensed as if ready for an attack. "What?" His voice turned hard.
I walked over to him and groaned. "That was my chocolate muffin! MINE! And you ate it! Why!?" I said, looking at him like it was the end of the world.
My dad looked so surprised and shocked that he dropped the muffin to the floor.
"Oh my chocolate cake!" I whimpered. I stared down at the muffin in agony. "My poor sweet muffin! On the ground, half eaten."
I heard my mom behind me. "Oh no."
"I've been betrayed! The world is going to end!" I threw my hands up in the air and I stomped to my room.
No one understood my dilemma with chocolate. It was my drug! I needed it to live.
I sat on my bed sniffling. My own father had eaten my muffin.
I can't trust no one!
I'll have to make a secret association devoted to chocolate. Maybe then I won't be betrayed.
There was a knock at my door. "Go away!" I said exhausted. I laid down on my bed and I covered my eyes with my arm.
"Baby, I swear I didn't know it was your chocolate muffin." My dads deep voice said behind the door.
"Who else adores chocolate in this house!?" I said. "Me! I adore it!"
I could hear my dad sigh. "Iz, open the door, or I will open it myself."
"No!" I said stubbornly.
And then the door opened and in came my dad. He was wearing a black T-shirt that showed his muscles and black jeans.... I just realized where I got my sense of style from.
"Iz, you are taking this out of proportions." He said tiredly. He looked tired. Like really tired.
He was rarely tired. He was always a ball of energy. Even more then me.
Well... I am lazy. Like a cat.
Oh my gosh, no!
I'm a tiger. Roar.
"Really, am I?" I had a little problem with anger. If I got the tiniest but angry, it builds up until I literally explode with so much anger. "Who has been hiding the truth from me?!" I said coldly. My anger had boiled up, over a stupid thing. But it happens.
His stance become hard. His muscles tensed and his black eyes studied me. "Who told you?"
I stood up. I was almost as tall as my own father. "It doesn't matter who did. What should've mattered was that you and my mom should have been the one to tell me." I said icily. "I had to find out by someone else!"
He ran his hand down his face. "Iz, you don't understand why we kept it from you."
"And what!? You thought I would never know? Never find out?"
