Chapter 21

It was already 5am and Betty was still awake. She was laying next to Klaus and looked at him. He was so peaceful when he was sleeping. Betty couldn't sleep because of the guilt. She felt guilty for all of this, for all that happened to Mel.

"Why arent't you sleeping, love?", Klaus asked her.
"I can't.", she just said.
"Hey, look at me.", he said and made her look him in his eyes.

"This wasn't your fault. You weren't yourself. You lost your memory and acted the way, you thought was right.", he comforted her, knowing she felt guilty.
"Still. It was my fault. Imagine I left her there. Maybe she would've died. She was really weak and I just watched. They were draining her power and I just watched. She was hurt and I didn't even care!", she told him with tears in her eyes.
"Don't cry. It's okay. She'll be okay.", he said while whiping away her tears.

"What did you two even talk about, back in the hotel? Mel said you should tell me. What was it?", he asked.
"Umm... n-nothing. It's not important.", she told him.
"Everything that involves you in it is important to me.", he said and made her smile.
"I-I'm not ready to tell you... I'm sorry...", she told him.
"It's okay. Just know that you can tell me everything.", he said and wanted to kiss her but was interrupted by Rebekah who rushed to them.

"MELISSA IS AWAKE AND SHE'S BACK AT BEING HERSELF!", she informed them.
"REALLY?", Betty asked while screaming a little.
"YESS!", Rebekah shouted back.

Betty ran downstairs to where Mel was laying on the couch. Kol and Kai were by her side holding her hands.
Betty felt guilty again, seeing her like this. She could slap herself because
of what she had done.

"Hey, you okay?", Betty asked her.
"Yeah, I'm fine.", she said, smiling at her.

Kol was really mad at Betty but he didn't say anything because he didn't want to make Melissa sad.

"Betty, can we talk outside?", Kol asked.
"Yeah, sure.", Betty said, knowing what he was gonna say to her. She wanted to hear it. She wanted to hear that she was guilty.

While walking outside, she prepared herself for all the horrible things he would tell her. She waited for him to say anything but he was quiet. He didn't say anything and that made Betty kind of nervous.

"You-"
"I know, I know. I'm a terrible person! What I did was wrong and I deserve all the horrible things I've been through and I really feel guilty about what happened to her and I am really really sorry. Just already tell me what a horrible friend I am and that I hould probably leave and that it's the best for us all.", Betty interrupted him without pausing.
"Betty! Relax! I am mad at you but I know that you weren't the you we all know and love and no you didn't deserve the horrible things that you've been through even though I don't know what happened. Actually you are one of the least horrible people I know.", he told her.
"T-Thanks. I didn't expect you to say that. I thought you'd totally, you know...", she said.
"Never. I may be mad at you but you are still family.", he said and hugged her.

"Now go inside and have a talk with her. She probably knows how guilty you're feeling right now and has her speech prepared of how much of an angel you are", he laughed.
"You are so underrated, you know that?", she told him.
"I mean everyone should appreciate you more. They don't appreciate you at all. You are kinda left out.", she explained what she meant after she saw his confused face.
"Thanks, Betty. Now talk to Mel. This is getting too emotional.", he said and laughed.
"Is that a tear? Is Kol Mikaelson really getting emotional because of me?", she joked.
"Betty!", he warned her.
"Jeez, chill dude. I will go now.", she said and went inside.

She saw Kai and Mel having their couple moments with all the cuddling and kissing stuff. She cought to get their attention.

"Sorry to interrupt you two love birds but can I talk to Mel alone?", Betty asked.
"Yeah, of course!", Kai said and went to the kitchen to Klaus.

"Betty...", she started ut was interrupted by Betty immediately.
"Let me just get this out. I am really really sorry for what I did for you. It was not okay and I went full crazy bitch on you and I-I don't even know what happened and when I became an emotionless bitch. I feel really guilty about it and I am so so so so so so so so sorry!", she apologized.
"You don't have to apologize, Betty. I know how you really are and you are a literal angel bean that needs to be protected at all costs.", she laughed.
"Still. I had to apologize.", Betty said.

"Are we good again?", Betty asked.
"Duhh.", Mel answered and laughed. After that they hugged tightly.
"Bettissa always-"
"And forever.", Mel finished Betty's sentence.

"Aren't they cute?", Kol said to Klaus, looking at them both hugging.
"Yes, indeed, they are.", Klaus agreed and smiled.
"Is everything okay with you and Betty?", Kai asked while pouring
water in his glass.
"Yes, but something is up with her. I think it has to do with the memory she has of me leaving her...", he said.
"Why did you leave her anyway? I mean I can see how much you love her, so why leave?", he asked curiously.
"My father, Mikael, threatened to kill her if I wouldn't leave. I didn't really have control over my vampire side and everything back then, so he was stronger than me. So I left.", he told him.
"But why would she be mad at you because of that? I don't get it. Something is missing.", Kai said.
"I know but she won't tell me. She said she wasn't ready to tell me and I respect that. I don't want to force
her to tell me.", he said.
"She'll come around, don't worry. I can talk with Mel or I could talk to Betty and try to convince her to tell you.", Kai offered.
"Thank you, mate. That means a lot to me.", Klaus said to him.
