Oh, how refreshing it can be to
ignore someone.
To, for once, value yourself instead,
Your well-being and your needs.
To know that you don't need to jump in
and save them,
To have the guts to leave them alone.
I have this toxic way of thinking
that it has to be me.
I have to be the selfless martyr,
I have to be the one to save them,
Because I can and because I should.
But selflessness is exhausting and sometimes
Even self-proclaimed heroes need to be selfish.
