"How about lunch?"

•••

Maddox.

When I woke up the next morning I felt like I was walking on sunshine. I was happy, something I forgot since my ex broke up with me. Though ever since I met Shawn, the mystery guy I felt like I was moving on.

Not onto another guy but it just reminded me I was able to move on. To forget Trevor and everything he's done. That's what I was now going to do, I was going to forget guys. Forget the confusing and hurt feelings they bring and make myself happy.

It was a sunny Saturday afternoon and I was on my way to the cafe. I was surprised I wasn't tired since my shift last night. I guess this whole believing in fate and everything was a fresh start. I mean I'm not tired form last night and I'm happy and just feel fresh.

I walked down the street until I got to the small familiar café. Thankfully this café wasn't well known because I'm not sure I'd always have a seat every time I walked in. I got inside and it was nice and warm, it had a very family friendly feel to it.

It was like a second home to me, I guess I spent a lot of time here since I moved. Though Jess wasn't complaining, this was the only time we really got to see each other.

"Hello Maddie, what can I get you?" Jess asked as I sat down on the bar stool.

I smiled, "Uh a fresh fruit smoothie." I said happily.

She gave me a strange look, "You don't want a coffee? Weird. Is the world ending and no one's given me the memo?"

"What do you mean?" I asked as I leaned back against the stool.

She shrugged, "I don't know you just seem happy. That and you ordered a smoothie and not coffee. It's weird, did something happen?" She asked.

I looked around before I leaned forward, "I'll tell you later, you're still coming over right?" I asked.

"Yes especially now that you have secrets. Why can't you tell me now?" She asked me as she set down my smoothie.

"You never know who's listening, that's all." I said before drinking my smoothie.

She cleaned the counter before leaning on it, "I was thinking pizza and a horror movie marathon."

"For tonight?" I asked and she nodded, "I'm fine with that."

I took another sip of my smoothie as I heard the bell of the door ding. Just then my phone buzzed as well which was really weird. At least to me it was. I looked at my phone to see who it was from only to roll my eyes.

From Trevor🙄:
Maddox please answer, I miss you and I don't know what to do.

"Who was it?" Jess asked me.

"Trevor being annoying as always, you'd think he'd take all the ignoring as a hint. This literally ruined my mood." I told her before sighing.

"Well maybe you should just tell him to fuck off." I heard a voice say.

I laughed before looking over to my right to see Shawn, "You'd think that would be easy. But I'm pretty sure if I said anything he'd take it as a sign of me wanting to get back with him. Even if it's me telling him to fuck off."
