"You realize I could've done this myself right?"

Maddox.
"Uh earth to Maddox." I heard someone say before being shaken.
I opened my eyes and sat up. I rubbed my eyes and yawned. I looked around and could smell the fresh coffee and hear the small chatter. I was in the café and I must've fell asleep or something.
"Hey you okay?" Jess asked me.
I nodded my head, "Yeah I'm fine, Why?"
She nodded her head but the look on her face said something else, "I don't know you just never sleep at least not during the day. Did you sleep at all last night?"
I shook my head, "No I was up all day yesterday working on notes." I half lied.
I didn't tell Jess about Shawn and I's adventure. She was still somewhat skeptical about him. She just didn't know him well enough to trust him.
"Really? Notes? That's all?" She asked.
She always seemed like she knew when I was lying or not. It was weird but I had to keep my ground.
"Yeah they were stressing me out. I don't even know when I actually fell asleep last night." I told her.
She sighed before setting a cup of coffee down in front of me, "I'm surprised you stayed up for work."
I nodded, "Yeah I don't know how but now I'm super tired."
I grabbed the cup of coffee and took a sip. I stayed there till I was done with it before paying her and leaving. I grabbed my bag and walked out of the cozy café. I walked out into the night, jeez how long was I asleep for?
It couldn't have been that late but it was dark out. The street lights illuminated the sidewalks. Then the cars driving down the busy street also gave away light.
I started to feel a little uneasy, you know those scenes in horror movies. Where it's the whole walking down the dark street at night and they feel someone following them? That's how I felt and I had never felt like that before.
I just tried to shake it off and pretend I didn't feel it. I seen my apartment complex come into view. I just had a few ways to go and I was good.
Though I could hear footsteps behind me, then again I live in a pretty populated area. A lot of people could be out and just a few steps behind me. I took a quick glance behind me but didn't see anyone.
I then got a icy chill, I wrapped my arms around myself tightly. I hurried my pace and felt that feeling once again. I then turned around and that's when I seen someone leaning against the wall. I started to walk away and that's when they got off the wall and followed.
I seen my apartment across the street. I quickly took off across the street when no cars passed. I heard the footsteps behind me come faster and louder. I wasn't watching where I was going, due to my fear and adrenaline kicking in. My foot got caught on the curb and I fell on the harsh cement.
I sucked in my breath as I felt my knee sting. A whole had torn my jeans and cut my skin. I tried to get up as fast as I could since I remembered exactly why I was in a rush and fell. I felt a pair of hands on my arms and screamed.
