Okay so im referring to 'wolves dancing' and that's just another way wolves say running! So just keep that in mind;)
{Madeline's POV}
Our wolves danced throughout the forrest as we dodged trees left and right. Alessia's wolf was a beautiful grayish color almost giving it a bluish tint. My wolfs fur was a plain tan color.
Since I wasn't in the pack, Alessia couldn't mind-link me, but it was honestly kind of peaceful just thought free for awhile.
My wolf was playful and kept nipping at the back of Alessia's heels. She let out a bark and took off sprinting faster. Without though my wolf took on the chase. We ventured deeper into the forest and soon I collided into the back of Alessia as she halted randomly.
My wolf shook her body letting her fur smooth back out and gave Alessia a questioning glance. She stood on guard, head high on alert. Slowly she turned towards me and nudged for me to turn around.
What the hell?
Nonetheless I turned around and she walked up beside me almost too close for comfort. Something wasn't right. Low growls rumbled in her chest only proving my thoughts correctly. Something was off.
In seconds a man leaped out and she snarled charging forward before he could attack me. The snap of her jaws on his neck and him laying motionless made me realize she instantly killed him. A strong smell made my nose tingle. It was a horrid smell.
My heart pounded as the smells got stronger. Alessia's head leaned back and she let out a howl signaling she needed backup. This isn't good. Men and women poured from the trees circling around us.
'Im coming, Madeline. Stay alerted. You do not go down without a fight, do you understand me?' Ryker's voice drifted through my mind. I sent back a quick okay and looked towards the group.
Alessia stood with me back to back as we looked around helplessly.
"Hiya mutts." One man said smirking.
"Ugh, can we hurry this? All I smell is wet dog." One complained.
One word struck me hard.
Vampires.
To me they were a myth. I never had seen one up close, nor have they been heard from in a long long time. Ever since the wolves basically took over, they disappeared. What could they possibly be back for?
I didn't want to die! I just got marked for heavens sake. A whimper escaped me just thinking about leaving Ryker.
"Aw look, we scared one." Another mused and Alessia growled back in response causing them all to laugh.
A voice boomed from a man who just emerged from the tree line. "What are you doing standing around? Now is not time for chit chat! They could be here any minute." He yelled at them.
"We're faster than them." A dark haired man replied casually.
"You'll think that when they have their jaws locked around you. Look at poor Jake." The man mused once more and their eyes drifted to the lifeless body Alessia took care of.
"No hard feelings right? You see Megan has this big elaborate plan and well... no one hates wolves more than we do." He grinned... Megan?
They advanced in on us.
Im not going down without a fight. I snarled lunging for a girl—specifically the one one called us a wet dog— and latched my jaw onto her shoulder as she let out a scream. She spun out of the bite and delivered a punch knocking me backwards.
