{Madeline's POV}
I walked into the office with Grayson and others since Ryker had called us to a meeting.
"Mason calm down. We'll find her. This isn't the time to let your beast out, alright?" Ryker's voice came through the phone line and he sighed annoyed for a moment after listening and pulled the phone away from his ear letting Mason rant and then put the phone back.
"Hello? Mason?" He asked and growled tossing his phone onto the desk placing his hands on his hips.
"He hung up on me. He hung up on me. The nerve he has." Ryker mumbled to himself and turned towards our curious faces.
"Y-you were talking to Mason?" Vivian asked walking past us to Ryker.
"Yes?"
"How is he? Is he okay?" She asked and my brows furrowed. Why does she care?
"Now is not the time. He has a mate." Grayson said to Vivian.
"Vivian lets not dig in the-" Jax started but she ignored him.
"Oh shut it." She snapped back at Grayson.
"Enough." Ryker said rounding his desk.
"Mason's mate was taken." Said Ryker.
"What the hell? I literally just saved her from a bear trap last night and she already managed to get taken in the span of hours? I can't with you wolves." Grayson mumbled taking a seat on the couch in Ryker's office.
"Wait, I am so confused on so many levels." I stated.
Why was Vivian caring about Mason? Grayson did something nice? Mason's mate was taken?
"Last night Mason called me saying he needed help. Apparently his mate was caught in a trap ,literally, and it was set by the hunters. I sent Grayson to help, and apparently when Mason got back to their room that night she wasn't there."
"Why wasn't she with Mason in the first place?" Raven asked.
"Because we went to destroy the rest of the traps. She went to clean up and go to bed." Grayson added.
"Well that was stupid on both you and Mason's part. If hunters set those traps, they were nearby. You shouldn't have left her alone!" Lachlan butted in.
"Bickering will get us nowhere. Now shut it and let the alpha talk!" Ashlynn snarled. I noticed her and Lachlan don't speak much, but when they do they're quite scary.
"Thank you," Ryker said adjusting his cufflinks, "I have doubled up on guards for the perimeter. I would also feel better if one of you would help each day with running the perimeter. Looking for scents and more." He said.
"Consider it handled. Ill go now, it's better than standing around bickering with you all." Julian said heading towards the door.
"Always a gentleman." Said Raven with an eye roll.
"Hypothetically speaking... could you get in touch with Dante?" Ryker asked Jax hesitantly.
"I don't-" He started but Ryker held his hand out.
"Don't with the lies. I know you keep in touch with him." Ryker interrupted and Jax sighed.
"Why? Getting in touch with him without an important reason is... dangerous."
"I want to negotiate a deal. I have a meeting with Christian, Mason, and Jackson next week. I believe I can't get Christian onboard also with this... deal."
"Dante is one of the most powerful vampires out there and you want to negotiate with him? Bring him here? Have you lost your mind brother?" Asked Raven.
