{Madeline's POV}
"I still can't believe i'm doing this." Ryker mumbled as he signed the papers for Dimitri to live here in the pack.
I smiled shaking my head.
"That's just funny. Your cousin coming here and being mated to Alessia. Though, hasn't he met her before?" I asked and Ryker shook his head.
"Like I said before, he was here for one thing and if he wasn't in my office pestering me, he was at the bar. Two places Alessia wouldn't be. He was also passed out somewhere half the time too." Ryker concluded and I nodded looking up at the clock.
"It's getting late." I mumbled letting out a yawn and around that time my cellphone rang.
I leaned over grabbing it off the table and my heart dropped at the caller ID.
"It's my mom." I said and his brows furrowed.
"Doesn't she ignore you half the time?" He asked and I nodded.
"Which means she knows about the engagement." I said rolling my eyes and answered the phone.
"Yes?" I sighed.
"You know, I am your mother. I may not have been your father but I would have liked Alpha Ryker to have least asked me for permission to marry you." She said and I scoffed.
"You're never around. You've never even met him. You're like a myth here in the power pack, mom. How was he supposed to know?" I shot back.
"I am your mother." She defended sharply.
"Yeah, a mother who barely speaks to her daughter." I could feel my blood start to boil.
She always knows that she gets under my skin.
"Can we please just talk like normal people?" She asked softly and I once again rolled my eyes.
She always acted like the victim.
"Sure, why not?" I basically mocked.
"I mean in person, can I come down and visit?" She asked and my eyes widened as I looked to Ryker who I knew had been listening in on our conversation.
"Don't look at me." He mumbled and I mentally groaned.
"Im super busy this week." I lied.
"Okay, next week?" She asked and I made a 'hmm' noise.
"Nope, look pretty busy too." I lied once more.
"For Goddess sakes, Madeline, just let me see you." She nearly yelled and started to go into a rant about how I always push her away and I pulled the phone from my ear giving her a minute then put it back against it.
"Fine! Okay, fine. Goddess." I said exasperated. "You can come tomorrow." I stated before hanging up the phone.
I groaned dropping my phone onto the desk and covered my face with my hands.
"She is trying you know." I heard Ryker say and I looked back at him and squinted my eyes.
"You know, a trip to Italy sounds amazing." I gave a fake smile and it was his turn to squint his eyes.
"Touché." He replied.
I chuckled shaking my head and looked back at the time.
"I think i'm going to shower then turn in for the night." I mumbled letting out another yawn.
"Okay, i'm going to go ahead and finish up this paper work and put your mom's name on the list for who can enter the pack, then i'll meet you up there." I nodded leaning over placing a kiss on his lips and headed towards the door.
