Chapter Twenty Nine|| Teaming Up

{Madeline's POV}

The people coming were rogues. The smell was almost overbearing. 

Octavia and Mason's lycans took off towards the men that were piling in one by one. 

"Should we do our thing?" McKenzie asked standing next to me and I nodded. 

"You should give her control. She can wipe them out easily." I said and she nodded and closed her eyes and when they opened the shined a bright gold. 

"Everyone should move out of my way... and hold your ears." She said and I couldn't help but grin as she popped her neck. 

She calmly walked to the center of the ballroom and squatted closing her eyes and I covered my ears waiting for what came next. Her scream shook the room and the men that tried advancing towards her were threw backwards into windows causing them to shatter. 

I channeled that inner feeling and took confident steps towards a man. He seen me coming and let out a growl coming after me. Once he was a couple feet away I knew my eyes shifted to their glowing pink and he was instantly caught in my trance. 

"You're feeling hot... overworked... your heart is beating too fast." I whispered and his eyes widened as he placed a hand over his chest where his heart laid. 

"Your having a heart attack." I said smiling as he dropped to his knees. 

I moved one by one whispering sickening things to each; though, their ears took it like a lure of sweetness. 

Now wolves started to enter the ballroom and I gritted my teeth. How many is Renee going to send? 

I looked seeing Mason's lycan pick up a wolf by the hide of its neck and he threw it towards Octavia's who's arm went straight through it as she held the heart. 

I grimaced turning away. 

Jackson and Aurora had shifted and were working on wolves while Ryker still remained in human form and was fight off three man. 

Kick after kick and punch after punch, he brought each to a swift death. 

Scarlett was easily making her way around using her powers of being a witch and I looked to Christian who was finishing off the last of them. 

Finally, there were none left. 

We all walked up meeting each other in a circle taking in what happened. 

"Let me get the girls some clothes before you all shift back." I said softly.

"So you're saying this Renee chick is after Madeline?" Octavia asked.

"Yes."

"Let us help you." She said and Aurora nodded in agreement.

"You know I can find where she is." Jackson said and both Ryker and I sighed.

"It's not that easy. She challenged me, so I have rules I have to follow. No one else can interfere especially not lycans. We can't bring you guys into our mess. We will deal with it on our own." I said and Ryker nodded.

"Are you sure?" Scarlett asked concerned.

"Positive." Ryker responded.

"Now, Renee didn't show, so that means she wanted a distraction. For what I don't know, but we need to figure it out. Thanks for coming tonight, but Madeline, McKenzie and I need to go see." Ryker added and everyone nodded. 

We said our goodbyes and hurried off.

"What could she have wanted to do that would be a distraction?" Ryker asked leaning against the front of his desk. 

"Maybe she thought she could get Madeline alone?" Alessia offered and Ryker shook her head. 

"She wouldn't have caused a scene. She would have been waiting for her to be alone." He shot back. 

"Was there anyone else she could have came after?" Dimitri asked and we shook our heads. 

"Both McKenzie and Madeline were there. So, what could she have wanted?" Ryker was in deep thought. 

"Maybe it wasn't her, maybe it was just a rogue attack." Alessia said and I gave her an 'I don't know about that' look. 

"It's too convenient that all of a sudden rogues attack when she is planning to kill me." I said and heard a small growl leave Ryker's chest. 

"She isn't going to kill you." He said sharply. 

"I said planning to kill me." I corrected and he just sighed walking to the window with his back to us. 

I think he was just as stressed as I was if not more. 

"If I was to challenge someone, I would leave something. Matter of fact, I have before a couple years ago." I heard McKenzie speak but when I looked over, her eyes were glowing gold again signaling her banshee was talking. 

"Like?" Ryker said trying to get more information. 

"A note. I'd threaten something so they would meet me. It's how us banshees and sirens can be. We can be pure fire." She said and Ryker mumbled a 'Oh don't I know' and leaned down grabbing his glass of bourbon taking a swig. 

"We will blackmail you into coming. It's our nature. A sirens at least. A common thing we do when someone won't challenge us or it's hard to get to them. We create a distraction and leave a note. Speaking she is a malice siren I have no doubt that she left one." McKenzie's banshee said and I nodded. 

"I could see that making sense." I contemplated between where she could have put it. 

"Plain sight or would we have to look for it." 

"Somewhere that when you see it, it shakes you up a bit." 

"Well then lets start looking. I'll go cover downstairs with Dimitri and you guys can take the upstairs." Alessia said standing to her feet. 

"Off we go." I mumbled.

SHORT CHAPTER, I KNOW. But I'm updating a little bit after this one with another chapter so you'll get two for the night. If I'm feeling generous maybe three hehe. So keep your phones on you!

This chapter was just to wrap up the fight of the last chapter. 

That is why it isn't very long. So bare with me.
