{Madeline's POV}
When I finally stopped running I was past the border line. I had to use my siren side to get the two guards on watch to let me go. I felt horrible for doing that, but I just had to.
After walking for a bit I stopped once I walked into a clearing. It was clear this is where she wanted to meet.
Torches were lined among both sides of the wide clearing lighting it up.
"You wanted me! You got me! Come on out you coward!" I yelled.
I heard the sound of leaves crunching and sure enough she walked out into my line of view.
"Im surprised you didn't bring your lap dogs." She joked.
"Lets just get this over with, Renee. Why do you really want to take my place?" I asked and her face went from humored to serious in seconds.
"You took everything from me!" She yelled walking closer.
What a cliche line.
"How? Please elaborate." I said and she closed her eyes trying to control herself.
"Do you know who killed your father?" She asked and my heartbeat quickened.
"Who?"
"My father." She said meeting my eyes.
No...
"We were little girls at the time so of course we didn't know the full extent to the story. My mother and father yelled at each other every night. She wanted him to come forward, to tell the truth, but he wouldn't. My mother kept bickering with him and guess what? He had to shut her up somehow. Three days later she went missing. She was found later on in a dumpster.
I grew up not particularly liking my father, but he was all I had left. Then Christian... oh king Christian. He came along putting his nose where it didn't belong. He kept digging and digging. Until he found out what my father did. You probably don't know this, but Christian had my father killed. I was sixteen and completely parentless." She concluded and my eyes widened.
Christian said they could never find out who did it...
"I didn't know, Renee. Why are you doing all this? Your father killed mine! End of story. Your mad because he got what was coming to him? Im sorry about your mother I truly am. I know the pain of losing someone you love and I can't imagine what you went through growing up, but you doing all this is just adding fuel to the fire." I seethed.
"Thats not it! I let it go! I knew what my father did was wrong! But years later you just had to befriend the only banshee known. Did you know the banshee that rest in McKenzie is the last one ever documented?!
My mother was a siren so I grew up learning my capabilities with her teaching me. One thing she taught was that I had to find a banshee. Without a banshee your siren side will never rest and you'll never be at your full potential. You will never feel content. You'll slowly start to go insane." That explains her crazy side.
"How did you know she was a banshee?" I asked and she shook her head.
"You have no idea what you're capable of do you? I'm a malice siren so I can see what truly lies within. It's what we're known to do. We see your biggest fear and we act on it. When I look at McKenzie I don't see McKenzie. I see the face of her banshee. The most beautiful and powerful creature walking the earth right now." She shook her head inching closer and my palms started to sweat.
"Point said is... the last person I had hope in. You took her and I'm not letting you win this time. I won't. I wanted revenge and now I that and McKenzie, two birds one stone. My father and I planned this for so long. Perks of being able to connect to the dead."
